huge, congratulations from Australia
Congrats! So thrilled for your career and your trip to Augusta!
CONGRATULATIONS Gary
I graduated from Washburn in 1956. I attended on a track scholarship. Great job..keep up the good work….Bill
Gary, congratulations on your first PGA Tour win. Was this better than the two free throws you sank with 7.5 seconds to beat West Texas A&M, 75-73, at Stephenville, TX, on March 14, 2003, in the NCAA playoffs? I was there broadcasting the game for WT. We blew a huge second-half lead to lose to your Ichabods.Good luck in the future. See you maybe at Houston.
That 5-iron on #17 was a laugh-out-loud, amazing shot at the perfect time. Felt good to us out here. Can only imagine your feelings right now.
Masters and two-year exemption Yeah!
Gary: Congrats on your first (of many) Tour wins. Matt and I have enjoyed watching you play this year. Continued success. Enjoy the Masters.
Thank you GARY WOODLAND had 5 english pounds e.w on you at 100/1 you played great, will be watching out for you on the tour,Watch out augusta the woodland express is on its way…
Congratulations on your first tournament win! We enjoyed watching you at Shawnee Heights and now we get to enjoy watching you play golf. Hope your Hawks have as much luck tonight!
Congratulations, Gary, from a KU golfer from the mid 60s. Your mental toughness today was outstanding. Here’s hoping your awesome breakthrough today serves as a springboard to a great career. You’ve made a lot of Jayhawks proud.
Rock Chalk!
Jon
Good job Gary everyone at Shawnee Heights is proud of you.
From your High School coaches brother in law. Congrats on a great win!!!
See you at the Masters. Rock Jock Jay Hawk KU!!! Dave & Nancy

Steve Emme

-Rock Chalk!
Congrat’s on the win Gary. Could not have happened to a better young man. I know mom and dad are proud of you, as Ceann and I are. -Dave Burlew/Kansas City
Greetings from Palmetto Golf Club in Aiken, SC. I play golf regularly with Dr. Mark Meyer and he has been bragging about your great year to date. Congrats on a great win. Hope you will stop by Palmetto during Masters week. The last PGA pro to do that was Ben Crenshaw and he did it the week he won his second Masters!
Congradulations! I sense you were close to winning after following you around PGA National with your father. Good luck the rest of the year and have fun at The Masters!
Mark St John
Congratulations. You make Topeka and all of Kansas proud. Enjoy the victory and I wish you the best at Augusta.
Great win today Gary.
Those putts on 17 and 18 were nothing short of amazing.
Rock Chalk Jayhawk!!
Wrote something about you winning on wrx yesterday…had a feeling..
Was a delight watching this..Awesome !!!
Félicitations !!
Congratulations Gary on your huge win. I really enjoyed walking the course with you on Thursday as the standard bearer. Good luck at the Masters!
Devon Rogers
A terrific win for Gary, especially in light of the expectation of the boys across the pond that someone from there would win. Guys like Rose, or Casey, or McElroy continue to get close and have their followers sing their praises, but they continue to disappoint. Eventually, the Brits will abandon these guys, as they can’t get it done when everyting is on the line. It’s like Monty, who won the “Order of Merit”, which is like winning the money title on the Nationwide Tour, but could never win anything that mattered in America. Until these guys win majors, the World Rankings will continue to be a joke, as who could be considered near the top without a major victory? Could you imagine Mike Phelps as the #1 swimmer without an Olympic medal, or Armstrong as the #1 cyclist without a Tour de france? No place but golf could this take place….
Great job keep it up, ROCK CHALK JAYHAWK
Great job. I agonized when you lost the playoff to Vegas and I’m glad you pulled this one out. If that was true what Johnny Miller said about you not missing a putt under 20 feet all day, that has to be a record. Work on the sand shots :)
Congrats
Well done Gary. I put a few dollars on you to win the Hope and that was very upsetting the way that panned out but you more than made up for that with a gutsy win. The shot and put on 17 was as gutsy as they come and same for the clutch put on 18. This is just the start for you now, fantastic. And I won a few bucks as well, even better!
From your high school golf coaches cousin. Great job.
Gary having a drink with you at Bristol before the KU conference tournament game, you said you needed to win to get in the Masters. When you birdied #1 today you looked so relaxed i just had a feeling you would win. I can’t imagine the hard work that has gone into this–and overcoming your injury.
Now call the KU basketball team and tell them we want a KU double.
Bill Smith
If anyone would have seen him on the basketball court win single handidly state titles, this should come as no surprise. Ice in his veins. Look for bigger wins in the world of golf from Woodland.
Congrats from a ’64 graduate of Washburn who played on the golf team… live in the Woodlands, Tx… have been following your progress… you are a champion!… the journey begins…
Gary, Congratulations! What a great week for you. All of us in Topeka are extremely proud your hard work in the off season is paying off – and you’re going to the Masters! Well done. Doesn’t hurt, either, every piece we read mentions Washburn. I’m sure Dr. Farley likes that.
Keep up your great play.
Congratulations. Good luck at the Masters. Keep it going for more wins!!!!!!
Congratulations Gary!! Wow, what a thrill. I am so excited for you and your family! I talked to your Grandpa Dale after the win and he was so happy. I can’t wait to watch you tee it up at the Masters!
Gary, Great victory!! Go Ichabods!! We’re proud of you. An old Ichabod.
Congratulations Mr. Woodland!!! I was greatly impressed with you at Waialae (I was your walking scorer for 36 holes) even though you did not make the cut. Your play since then has been stellar! Keep it up – best wishes for the rest of 2011.
Gary, that was a defining shot you hit on #17 with a 5 iron. Even a greater putt, then to top that off, the putt at 18 was a thing of beauty. Congratulations, and here’s to many more wins in your bright future. I played several years on the European Sr. PGA tour and can recognize a great talent when I see one. I would love to see you and Dustin Johnson paired together the first two rounds at Augusta, now that would be 2 rounds of golf to keep an eye on. Just one thought….work on controlling that adrenaline when you get under the gun….deep breaths, and RELAX….Best of luck to you and here’s to a BRIGHT FUTURE of American golf.
What a great day for you! I love the kudos you have sent out to KU during a GC interview at the Hope. And your love of the Hawks is fun to see and appreciated. You really make the Jayhawk Nation and the State of Kansas proud. You will be followed by our local golf scene in the same way we followed Tom Watson and Jim Colbert in years past. I love that shot tracker on pgatour.com so I can follow along at the office. Augusta and a Green Jacket await you. You have “IT”. Stay humble and work hard. Great things await you.
You made a believer out of me with your 284 yard 2 iron then sinking the clutch putt on 18. Congratulations from an Okie. Will be pumming for you at Augusta.
Your talent is amazing.
Gary , I would like to wish you a huge congratulations from all the Thunderbirds in Phoenix….what a great win and fantastic start to your season. Keep it up and we hope to see you later this year!! Best of Luck at Augusta -Cheers AC
Gary…great victory and great season so far. I am really enjoying getting to watch you play from week to week. Best of luck at Augusta!!
Gary, I followed you and Nick Watney today, you did a phenomenal job getting in (drives to the left) and out of trouble. Good job converting the putt on 17 after the hooters crowd sang there chant. I saw you at the open at bethpage when you were still an ameteur, all the best in your career.
Many congratulations Gary I knew you had it in you. Best of luck in the future.

CONGRATS Gary!!! I have enjoyed watching you all year, and had a blast yesterday! You are making Topeka, and the Jayhawks proud! I still remember when you were a little 3-hole junior golfer at Shawnee CC – even then you were a stud!
WIN the Masters.. because you can.
Gary,
I followed you for 3 days at the tourney! You played so well…Especially your recovery shots and putting. well deserved man! I hope to tee it up with you one day on tour. Way to keep your composure down the stretch and holing that huge putt for par. Had a great time watching you play. Keep doing your thing!!

Congrats from a fellow KU Grad and Kansan Golfer! RCJH
Congrats. Still remember the driver, 7 iron you hit over the green at hole 2 at Milburn during the Heart. Have fun at Augusta.
Gary: I saw you in the parking lot at Milburn last Friday. Apparently, those nine holes in 40MPH winds prepared you for victory. Continued success on tour and good luck to you at Bay Hill this week. Blue appears to be your favorite color but you better get some green shirts!See ya down the road.
Congratulations … a fantastic WIN. Can’t wait to see you play at Augusta!
Gary
I think the beating you gave Lumpy and me in the Kansas Fourball a few years was the springboard to your success! Congrats!
CONGRATS on your 1st win and a trip to the Masters. My son and I met you at the Open in Bethpage and we both were just waiting to see you record your 1st win. My son is a big Jayhawk fan and it was nice to see you represent the University at the Open.
Congrats, fellow Jayhawker. But it was no miracle like the one I pulled off in ’88. Rock Chalk.
Gary,
Awesome job man! Love to see a fellow Topeka golfer making it big. Look forward to watching you in the Masters next month.
congrats gary, my ku grad son and I were watching and cheering you on.
Congratulations, Gary. All your Kansas fans are excited for you! Keep it up.
Way to go!!! It was fun to watch and it was great to see two KU winners yesterday. I also will be making my first trip to Augusta this year (to watch of course), can’t wait. Keep up that awesome putting…
Gary, all of your friends and former fellow competitors from the Kansas amateur ranks congratulate you on your first of what will no doubt be many PGA Tour wins. No one dominated Kansas amateur golf the way you did. We are proud of your accomplishments, but we are most proud of your character, demeanor and resolve. Golf needs a new charismatic star and it’s YOU!
Way to go Gary. All of your golfing friends in Topeka are proud of you. It was fun letting out big yells during your back 9 birdies. I don’t mind saying I was rooting for Simpson to miss his putt on 18. Glad all of your hard work has paid off. Have fun at Augusta. I am sure mom and dad will enjoy that trip too.
Way to go, Gary!! I never doubted you would win sooner than later. It will be a thrill to watch you at The Masters!!
Tell your dad I said hello.
Rock Chalk Jayhawk KU

Great win Gary. Been watching you the last couple of years. I’m a friend of your cousin Lyle Christensen. Keep up the stellar play and I’ll be watching for your next win.
Congratulations Gary! We can still remember watching you and all the guys in the KJGA events way back when. It’s great to see that your dedication and hard work have paid off in a big way. Pass on our congrats and hellos to your folks. I’m know that they couldn’t be prouder. Keep it going, we’ll be watching for continued success.
Gary, Awsome man, way to go. Congratulations on your first of many wins. It was really fun to watch you on the Copperhead course as we played that course last December. Really enjoyed it too with the alligators and wildlife around. Great course but I won’t tell ya what I shot. haha. See ya for now, and good luck at Augusta. Ed, Marc and Luke Matyak.
Gary, it was so much fun watching you on tv yesterday at Bull Frogs. Your mother shed some joyful tears and I cried along with her. What a blast!! Thad constantly kept your fans informed about each and every shot! It will be so much fun to walk along with you in Orlando this week. See you soon and thank you for making an old lady golf watcher so happy!
Gary, I have been watching you all year and have been pulling for this moment to happen. Congratulations on a much-deserved win – it couldn’t have happened to a nicer guy. I’m sure your dad is very proud, and you must be thrilled to share it with him and all of your family and friends back home in Kansas. Keep it up – maybe you’ll win the Kodak Challenge too!
Gary:
We walked the first three holes with you in 2009 at the Phoenix FDR and have watched your career very closely ever since. As KU Jayhawk bb fans we swithed from bb NCAA on Saturday/Sunday to watch you play every shot on the back nine at Innisbrook. We both screamed for delight when you KEPT making all of those putts. WOW! So proud of you. Now on to the Masters on April 7-10.
We are both KU Jayhawk grads….and in 1966-69 we lived in Topeka when I attended and graduated from Washburn Law School. Both Ichabods/Jayhawks. KGA Director Kim Richey used to be one of my law firm associates.
Keep up the good play.
Ray Borth and Raena Borth

Always great to see a fellow Topeka golfer and KU grad succeed on the big stage.
I’ve been following you since highschool ( I’m a ’95 Hayden grad ) and I know you’ve put in a lot of work over the past 3 years with the injury, etc. It was fun following you out here in Scottsdale again this year at the TPC. Great start to the year! Rock Chalk Jayhawk.

Gary
Congrats on a great tournament and your first win. Saw u make a putt just like the one on 18 yesterday, for the win, but it was on 18 at Lake Shawnee in the first round of match play. Should have gotten your autograph then. Follow you always and the best of luck on a great future.
Fran Matthias

Gary
Congratulations on your first when. It been a pleasure watching you play in High School and in the KS Am events. Continue your rise to the top
Congrats Gary! It was great watching your final round. Even turned off the NCAA basketball games. I saw your dad Friday Night at the Bullfrog watching KU whoop up on Boston U. and he said you were playing well. Started following you on the PGA app on my iphone. Saw your dad last year on RAGBRAI and he said he may miss it this year to watch you golf. You have an awfully proud pop. Nice Win!
What a fun Sunday for Kansans. Thank you! Gary Woodland wins on tour, Wichita State (NIT) and KU (NCAA)win as well. I am sure glad you made the last two putts so we didn’t have to hear Johnny M. say anymore about sand saves. Great work! We will be attending and looking for you in San Antonio if you decide to play.
Rock Chalk KU!
Rock Chalk Jayhawk KU! Now to the final four in Houston.
Congratulations Gary!
We’re so happy for you! Great job on a well-deserved win! Mac, our little 10-year-old golfer, has a KU hat you autographed for him a couple years ago and he went and put it on yesterday to bring you luck for the win! He thinks he helped you!
We wish you continued success!
Dan, Jane, Riley, Sydney and Mac Piles
Congrats on what I’m sure will be the first of many victories on the PGA tour! ROCK CHALK!!!
Way to go Gary. I loved the phone interview with Bob Davis when you finished with a Rock Chalk. Best of luck to a fellow Jayhawk(1963)..okay from an old Jayhawk to a young Jayhawk..we are family.
Gary, Congratulations!!!! from your former equipment manager at KU. So glad I was able to catch the last 3 holes before we headed to the arena for the game in Tulsa. Heck of putt on 18. Enjoy this….and definitely enjoy Augusta.
Larry
Dear Gary,
Saw you win yesterday and was very happy for you. Wish you continued success in the future.
John Surritte
rock chalk, your win was the first of the day for ku and all of us at scc wish you well
Great win Gary. I knew you were destined for big things when you thumped me at SCC when you were 15. We’ll be looking for you at Augusta on the Tuesday practice round.
Rock Chalk Jayhawk! Way to go Gary! We were pulling for you! Can’t wait to see you attack Augusta National!
What a great day to be a Jayhawker watching you and the basketball team both win. How about another double with the Masters and Final Four? Since Matt Gogel retired, we now have a new Jayhawker to follow on the PGA tour. I even “googled” ANNEXUS to learn about your sponsor. Congratulations.
Way to go from a Jayhawker! Will be supporting you at the Masters.Hope you and the BB team can share some victories this next month.
Great job Gary! I watched you play 9 holes in the Kansas 4 ball, walked with your Mom and your Dad was caddying for you. I’m not surprised by what you are doing at all. Keep up the work. You can truly be GREAT.
Gary:
CONGRATULATIONS on the win. As a KGA rules official, I have had the extreme pleasure watching you play through HS and college and now the BIG TIME. Keep of the good work.
Great job and greater putting. Been following you via Golf Channel all year. Nancy & I send our best. See you at Alvamar.
Bob Kocour
Awesome job! Thad has made me a big fan of yours. Will be watching next week and hoping for back to back wins! Sure beats watching Tiger! GO GET EM!
Congratulations Gary, We are really proud of you, keep up the good work
gail is at it again! i asked you to stop! i thought this was a congratulate gary woodland forum, not a forum for her/his brit bashing. as far as gail’s claim that only golf could have a number one without a major, try womens tennis for a start! anyway, congrats to gary. he played well and won the tournament, whereas the swing of webb simpson looked very shaky. rory will win majors, casey is good enough, westwood i am not so sure. kaymer is number one right now, and he is clearly number one.
When we saw you at Milburn Country Club just a week or so ago, you said the plan was to get a win in the next two weeks to lockdown Augusta! Man did you deliver…
Very proud of you Gary and keep up all the good mojo.
Enjoy every bit of your success and you have a solid gallery behind you.
Rock Chalk.
My wife and I were in Tulsa cheering the Jayhawks on. We’ve followed you on Tour. Proud you’re a Jayhawk! Rock Chalk!!
Congrats on your victory. Best Wishes for many more. Good luck in the Masters.
As a graduate of Shawnee Heights High School (Class of ’66), Washburn University (’71) and the retired Postmaster in Lawrence, it’s great to see you do so well. A lot of golfers at Alvamar, LCC and Eagle Bend are rooting for you.
Gary: Congratulations on your 1st PGA victory. I am certain you were thinking the victory was much too long in coming! With your putting stroke, the next victory will surely come soon.
Even though I am a die hard KSU fan, and you are a KU alum, I congratulate you. I wish you continued success on the PGA tour. The tour needs local USA players to win against all the foreign players that are currently winning!
Larry Loomis, KGA Rules Official
Gary was impressed with your toughness and skill have a great Masters and keep up the good work. Sure all golfers from Kansas are pleased with the way you won.
I was at the tournament, and watched you on the practice range… I noticed that you, and Webb were crushing the ball on the range, and it looks like it translated to the course just fine for you.. Congratulations on your first PGA tour win, and best wishes for many more…
Outstanding Win. Congratulations from Salina, Ks
Congratulations Gary. We have been following your career over the past several years. Glad to see you are now having so much success.
Gary…Congrats on a great victory and may there be many more! It all started by kicking my butt in the playoff at Garden City! It is way more fun to WIN than taking second….Gotchy
Gary, Awesome win! I went to grad school at KU and all three of my kids went there as well. Your win makes us all proud. Now call the basketball team and help them keep their amazing season going. Best of luck in the Masters and with all your future wins. Frank
Gary,
Congratulationson on your tour victory. I followed you around the Phoenix Open in 2009 and again for a short time this year at the Phoenix Open. I couldn’t believe the difference in your game. We have a time share in Scottsdale we occupy during the Phoenix open.
Jan was a professor at Washburn for 33 years in the Phys. Ed. department and former women’s coach for volleyball.
We frequent Walt McFarland’s restaurant and keep up with you that way. Again congratulations and keep up the good work.
Carl and Jan Nuzman Silver Lake, KS
Great job Gary–I will never forget the time you drove 13 for us in a scramble at Alvamar–I knew great things were in the works. Rock Chalk Jayhawk! Good luck at Augusta….
Congrats Gary! I new it was just a matter or time for you. I’ve been following your progress and it nothing short of amazing. I know mom really enjoys watching you on tv and calls to make sure i’m watching everytime your in contention. I hope everything is well with your family and tell them hi from us back in Hutch.
Wishing you continued sucess in the near future and thoughout your career.
Monte Hertach
Hutchinson, Ks.
Yo, fellow Jayhawk. Congratulations on that big win. Great performance. I noticed the pic of your play at Washburn. Where are the ones from Shawnee Heights when I officiated your games??? Take care & keep up the good work. Go JAYHAWKS!
I’ve known you were a special talent for a long while–even before your successes at the Hutchinson Invitational! But more importantly, you are a special person because of your thoughtfulness! May you win many more!
everyone cheered in the Alvabar when you won!
I can remember you hitting on the range as I was as well!
Congratulations
What a wonderful win by a classy young man. It sure makes the trials of the last two years worth it. Pinch yourself when you ride up Magnolia Lane and say “My name is Gary Woodland and I’m here to play in The Masters.” What a thrill. All your friuends at the KGA & WGA are thrilled for you. AND GO JAYHAWKS!!!!
Congratulations! I am a Kansas high school girl myself. Thanks for making Kansas proud and of course winning! I am NOT a KU fan however, go CATS!
WOW !!! What a wonderful thrill. All of us at Lake Nona were falling all over ourselves! We are so very happy for you and wish you many more victories.
I look forward to seeing you on the driving range in the near future. Do want to match bunker shots for a buck each?
If I had only known all this was going to happen to you when I caddied for you at that Hooters tournament in Augusta, I would have gotten your autograph, or even better, a picture of me and you together. But I did have the foresight to make a copy of the $50 check you wrote me, even if you did misspell my name. But hey, it’s enough for me to tell my golfing buddies that I caddied for Gary Woodland back when he was nothing, now look at him. But I enjoyed our two days together Gary and when you return to Augusta for the 2012 Masters, if your regular guy can’t make it, give me a holler.
Gary,
I was in the gallery following you at the Phoenix Open in 2009, and again for a short time in the Phoenix Open in 2011 when you birdied No. 11 hole. The improvement in your game was incredible.
Congratulations and keep it up.
