| Players | Tee times (hole) | Comment |
| Mark Wilson Matt Kuchar David Toms |
Rd. 1: 7:54 a.m. (No. 10) Rd. 2: 12:24 p.m. (No. 1) |
Toms comes off his runner-up at THE PLAYERS to an event where he was runner-up in 2002. Wilson is the highest in the FedExCup standings in the field (third). |
| Zach Johnson Jason Day Sergio Garcia |
Rd. 1: 12:13 p.m. (No. 1) Rd. 2: 7:43 a.m. (No. 10) |
Johnson is the defending Crowne Plaza champion, while Garcia took the title in 2001. Day knows his way around Colonial, too – he’s a member. |
| Kenny Perry Tom Lehman Rory Sabbatini |
Rd. 1: 12:13 p.m. (No. 10) Rd. 2: 7:43 a.m. (No. 1) |
Four Colonial titles are in this group – two by Perry in 2003 and ‘05, Sabbatini in ‘07 and Lehman in ‘95. Lehman has been tearing up the Champions Tour this year. |
| Brandt Snedeker Jim Furyk Adam Scott |
Rd. 1: 7:43 a.m. (No. 10) Rd. 2: 12:13 p.m. (No. 1) |
Should Scott win this week, he’d own trophies from all four Texas TOUR stops. Snedeker could bag a second red coat in a month, having won in April at The Heritage. |
| Lucas Glover Hunter Mahan Paul Goydos |
Rd. 1: 12:24 p.m. (No. 1) Rd. 2: 7:54 a.m. (No. 10) |
Glover faded over the weekend at THE PLAYERS in a bid to win in back-to-back weeks. Goydos, 47, turned in another oh-so-close effort at TPC Sawgrass. |
A few other groups that caught our attention…
Keith Clearwater, Corey Pavin, Tom Purtzer – Another group of former Colonial champions. Pavin’s goes back the farthest, to 1985. He also won in 1996.
Martin Laird, Brian Gay, Vijay Singh – Singh loves Texas, having won the Shell Houston Open three times and the HP Byron Nelson Championship once, but no Colonial crown.
Jason Dufner, Rickie Fowler, Tommy Gainey – Dufner, with consecutive top-10s coming in, is commanding more attention. Fowler and Gainey are always worth watching.
My guess this Week is someone NOT in the Noteable Groups.
However, I would like for Jason Day, Adam Scott or Lucas Glover Top the Leaderboard on Sunday.
I am looking forward to seeing what John Daly is going to wear. Will he be more colorful then Rickie Fowler?
I hope John makes the Cut. He is 2 for 8 so far this year.
What surprises me are all the players who WON’T be attending this one, but it’s high time that Fowler do more than just make a few good shots and look colorful.
