A few other groups that caught our attention…

Jeff Overton, Roland Thatcher, Tommy Gainey – Imagine the cheers this week from spectators following this group featuring "Boom, Baby" Overton and "Two Gloves" Gainey.

Mark Wilson, Jonathan Byrd, Jim Furyk – Mark Wilson has two victories in 2011. Byrd has one. But Furyk, the reigning FedExCup champion, is the one holding the TOUR’s ultimate prize.

Bill Haas, Rory McIlroy, Gary Woodland – McIlroy missed the cut in his only post-Masters TOUR start, but returns to a place he finished inside the top 10 last year.

Keegan stepped up and held it together under pressure last week. Paired with some “big guns” this wek – I betcha he can rise to the occasion again!! (I’d love to see that.)

Luke Donald’s had a great year .. and Phil is a fan fav (always has been, always will be).

Ernie Els – been a long time since we saw him on top!

Yeah .. a great week of golf ahead .. lookin forward to Live@ coverage!!

  • phil

looking forward to a great 4/days of golf. please relay this to whomever is in charge of shot tracker.get your stuff right or dont claim that you give us live golf!!!! good luck Lefty.

  • Lee

Shot tracker is very slow now-a-days. At times, it appears to be not functioning and all of a sudden it shows 2 or 3 strokes at once. Hope they rectify this problem this week.

My pick for this week is Luke Donald.

  • Jeff

Eight notable groups already highlighted. Two more that caught my eye are: 1) Vijay Singh, Stewart Cink & Troy Matteson. 4 major wins in the group; Vijay a past champion (’97) and a T12 last year. With strong FedExCup rankings of 26, 55 & 77 respectively.
2)Nick O’Hern, Tim Petrovic & Ricky Barnes. Two top 5 finishes last year; Barnes (T3) & Petrovic (T5). Good FedExCup rankings for Barnes (63) & O’Hern (86) with Petrovic on the bubble @ 126. As always, it should be a great four days of golf @ Jack’s house. Right now even the weather looks good w/partly cloudy skies Thur & Fri, then mostly sunny Sat & Sun w/highs for the tourney from 82-90. Best of luck to all! My pick for the week is Ricky Barnes to finally win his first tournament on tour at Muirfield Village.

  • terri

Mickelson…he is going to tear it up the 2nd half of the year.

  • Jake Stronach

The most interesting group is Jerry Kelly – former runner up here , Rocco Mediate- Never know what he could produce, Brenden Steele- rookie winner this year . Overall a great group

  • Jonathan - http://www.facebook.com/NOW.HIRING.JOBS

Dustin Johnson – no particular reason – I just scanned thru everyone playing this week and his name jumped out at me twice.

He’s got as good a chance as anyone!

  • john

SHOTTRACKER IS ABSOLUTELY AND TOTALLY UNRELIABLE AND NOT TO BE TRUSTED. ONE MINUTE A PLAYER HAS A TAP IN FOR BIRDIE, NEXT IT CHANGES TO A DOUBLE BOGEY!!!!!!!!!! PLEASE DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT!!

  • Rick Smith

Hope Phil’s back on track and headed onto a victory this week!

  • kickp

    Kids week!!!!!mcilroy or fowler!!!$$$$

  • Carey Moffett

shot tracker & CDW(pgatour’s Tech. partner lol.) are the only technology partners that seem to get worse every year!…Time to replace the volunteer’s with some paid people who have a clue. For most of us this is the only way to follow our favorite golers & the problem MUST be fixed!Thousands of us don’t follow your TV darlings,so fix lst & pbp for the fans…please!

  • Johnny

    I’m going with Aaron Baddeley!

  • Todd

    Hunter mahan all the way

  • CJ

Here’s a radical idea to replace the volunteers who laser shottracker for us & use trained, paid people who are accountable.Shottracker is just computer graphic’s right,so every time a player makes a shot have thier equipment logo come up on screen.have the various companies ie Titleist, srixon,Nike, etc… pay for the shottracker staff…easy!Every shot a player makes his brand would come up ,say driver or ball brand’s off the tee.Iron brand’s on approach & putter brand’s on the green’s…you get the idea anyway’s…Shottracker needs fixed so we can all enjoy online golf!

  • Jim from Saskatchewan

Wouldn’t it be great to see Freddy win here….
Not likely, but, it would certainly be great…. Look for Kucher to contend, and also
Dustin Johnson…. P/S Yeh Winnipeg NHL is back

  • Shawn

I’m from WI but I sure get tired of Steve Stricker getting no respect. He is one of two top ten world golf ranking from the USA. Most of the time he is not shown on TV and isn’t even mentioned in notable scores. So I don’t know what clowns come up with their power rankings. I guess it’s some sort of popularity contest. It sure would be nice to watch and hear more about the 2nd ranked player in the US.

  • Fred

I strongly agree with complaints shot tracker( I won’t use it) and play by play. Accuracy is spotty, some corrections are terrible (i.e. birdie becomes double with no explanation so must be simply “pilot error”) and some holes are skipped totally. MAJOR COMPLAINT: no automatic refresh on Sat. and Sun.!! Makes it very tedious

  • Ellen Morton

I AM A BENEVOLENT GRANDMOTHER WHO HAS ADOPTED ALL THOSE YOUND MEN COMPETING ON THE TOUR. I MUST ADMIT PULLING FOR MY COUNTRY MEN CHIEFLY.
I FOLLOW GOLF SO KNOW THE NAMES AND MANY BACKGROUNDS OF PLAYERS, SO IT IS FUN TO SIT BACK AND WATCH THE DRAMA UNFOLD!
I’M LOOKING FORWARD TO THIS WEEK’S PLAY!

    ELLEN MORTON, WILLIAMSBURG,VA

  • Joan

    Phil ,
come out sharp and nail down a victory. It will be great mojo going into the US Open!!!

  • scott

    I’m thinking Bubba Watson……

  • Patricia A. Braun

Steve Stricker, all the way. We in Wisconsin are so proud of our home state guy. He is class with a capital “C”

  • ned

I have to concur with these comments regarding shottracker, it stinks, get your act together please!

  • 007

I follow along on “Shot Tracker” and although their are a few mishaps, I am pleased with the overall product.

My One big complaint is sometimes the total scores don’t add up correctly, especially on Sunday when some of the earlier Golfers are finished and others are still on the course.

  • Andrew-Sydney Aus

My compaint re shot tracker is sometimes second shot is actually the third etc. Could be what is being relayed though from the official..
Anyway some great golf coming up this w/e. What about the Haas,McIlroy, Woodland group, talk about some bombers there, wow.

  • Don

I just hope the weather co-operates so we can have good tournament and a deserving winner!!

  • jeff

    Freddie!

  • GPC77

I too get frustrated with the speed and inaccuracies of “Shot Tracker”, although I can remember a time when Thurs./Fri. scores weren’t easily available until the next morning’s newspaper. Then came Golf Channel broadcasts, which are good though generally dedicated to only one or two groups on the course. Next came TourCast, the graphics of which I still prefer over “Shot Tracker”. The bottom line is that we are spoiled by the info/tech age. As new technology is developed, it becomes the new standard and when it doesn’t work perfectly, we complain when we should likely be more patient.

  • Jonathan - http://www.facebook.com/NOW.HIRING.JOBS

Screw shot tracker .. more LIVE@ coverage, please!!!

  • ANT D

how about freddy paired up with dustin johnson and his longtime caddie joe lacava looping for johnson now. im sure they will sneak a couple ideas to eachother about what freddy should hit. that should be fun. im sure lacava will be rooting for him and i beleive freddy handled it with alot of class by giving lacava his blessing. dont be surprised to see fredyy there on the weekend. he loves murfield and has a great record here. GOOOOO COUPPPLLEEESSS.

  • FritzDaCat

Luke “The Machine” Donald showed a few chinks last week in Europe. Looks like he’s starting to have timing issues but he still won and he’s the favorite in my book. Also, my man Nick Watney should be a favorite every week the way he’s playing. He’s going to be World Top 5 within a year. My girlfriend likes DJ and we both like Freddie so you can tell which group I like!

  • Bob

Would like to see Tommy Two Gloves return to his third-place form of a few weeks ago…or better!

  • Jake Stronach

    jerry kelly

  • pramod duggal

one cannot ignore lucas Glover n Arjun Atwal group. I am confident Arjun Atwal is ready now to win this tournament and make us all proud again after wyndham.
