Tee times for the first two rounds of the Wyndham Championship have been released. Here’s a look at some of the notable groups. Let us know which players or groups you’re planning to follow this week.
| Players | Tee times ET (starting hole) | Comment |
| Paul Casey Padraig Harrington Justin Leonard |
Rd. 1: 7:30 a.m. (10th) Rd. 2: 12:30 p.m. (1st) |
Three veteran players who enter this week outside the top 125 in FedExCup. Hey, guys, last chance to make a move! |
| Ernie Els Camilo Villegas Cameron Beckman |
Rd. 1: 7:40 a.m. (10th) Rd. 2: 12:40 p.m. (1st) |
Beckman is 124th in FedExCup points; Villegas is 125th; Els is 126th. Only the top 125 make the Playoffs. You can see where we’re going with that. |
| David Toms Bill Haas Webb Simpson |
Rd. 1: 12:30 p.m. (1st) Rd. 2: 7:30 a.m. (10th) |
Toms could move to No. 1 in points if he wins this week. Haas and Simpson could move into the top 5 with a win. |
| Lucas Glover Jim Furyk Vijay Singh |
Rd. 1: 12: 40 p.m. (1st) Rd. 2: 7:40 a.m. (10th) |
Just two players besides Tiger Woods have ever won the FedExCup – Furyk and Singh. Both are looking to pick up the pace this week. |
| Arjun Atwal Stuart Appleby Angel Cabrera |
Rd. 1: 12:50 p.m. (1st) Rd. 2: 7:50 a.m. (10th) |
Call them the “A” team. Atwal is the defending champion but hasn’t been able to build on that this year. |
| Jason Dufner Tommy Gainey Ben Curtis |
Rd. 1: 1 p.m. (1st) Rd. 2: 8 a.m. (10th |
Dufner’s getting right back on the horse after losing to Keegan Bradley in a three-hole playoff at last week’s PGA Championship. |
Spiderman and Vijay – too many missed cuts – they’ve been missing from the leaderboard.
Maybe this will be their week!?
The combo of Beckman, Vegas and Els will be a big two day event for this pairing.
The three of them will be vying to finish ahead of each other to advance to the PGA Playoffs.
The three of them will have to stay ahead of William McGrit, Dean Wilson and Ben Curtis who are not to far away from entering the Cut-off zone of 125.
Of course, don’t forget Matt Jones and David Mathis who are ranked 122 and 123 respectively, so the trio of Beackman, Vegas and Els can all make the Cut if they can finish better then Jones and Mathis, providing other Golfers don’t pass this noteable group.
I like Ernie Els and I hope he plays well enough to make it within the 125 Cut-off. Ernie only played in 16 events this year and wouldn’t have to worry about qualifying if he had played in an extra few Tournaments.
The same goes for Paul Casey (12) and Angel Cabrera (14). They both needed to play more.
Donald Ross Course! Love those OLD golf courses. Can’t wait to see Pinehurst at it’s finest soon!!!
this is Sneds place. he loves it here and should contend again. the beginning of a run at the FedEx Cup title.
I like Brandt Sneder….
I follow Kevin Stadler as he would go to Padre baseball games when he was eight years old. I am as old as his grandmother.
David Toms, Bill Haas or Webb Simpson should be the Group to watch for the First Two Rounds as this is where the eventual Winner will immerge.
It will be interesting to see how Jason Dufner will perform after his finish at the PGA Championship.
Best of luck Arjun.
Stay cool Arjun. You won it here last year. You can do it again.
I will see you on Saturday. Play like you did last year.
The ONLY thing better
than and old Donald Ross
course…
is an Old Tillinghast course….
Go Jason Dufner,
Prove them ALL wrong for dissing You….
You deserve Victory just as much as any-
one out there does . . . .!
Talking about notables in the field: note the first Icelandic golfer to take part in a PGA tournament, Olafur Bjorn Loftsson, who won the Cardinal tournament in NC last weekend.
Every golfer in Iceland will be watching the Wyndham event (hopefully the weekend too :)
Els doesnt need to make 125 for exemption next year, he is clear through 2013 for his 2010 WGC win. But I’d like to see him play well in the playoffs and finish this year strong.
Hi Arjun
we know you can do it, and have done it before,
but the most important thing is that you know you can do it. so go for it.
we will be watching eagerly for you to do it.
good luck.
