Steve Stricker is coming off a win at the season-opening Hyundai Tournament of Champions, and he went first in our Expert Picks draft on PGATOUR.COM.
Webb Simpson didn’t last long, either, after his performance in Maui.

Could It be possible that people have under estimated the win by tiger in the chevron or is it the hyundai was a weaker field?. simpson had plenty of chances to win, bradely never got sighted…watney done nothing .these are three of the so called tiger replacements, with some more this week things are getting interesting. I don’t think tiger will be slitting the wrists just yet. cheers.
I think Bradley has a good chance this week….
Look out for Kirk this week!
Yahoo! roster:
A–Steve Stricker, Charles Howell III
B–Steve Marino, Chad Campbell, Robert Allenby, John Rollins
C–Jerry Kelly, Davis Love III
Look for Zach Johnson and KJ Choi to post Top 10 finishes as well.
brads i had a small investment on him last week. no more until he shows something.
pretty strong field, but I look for one of the rookies to make an early statement
look for zj or even the captain dlove to pull some magic this week
Hao’s Happy hour started early.
simpson
best longshot. ishikawa
Do I dare go for big John Daly??
Gimme your feedback
Tommy ( OH MAN ) Gainey.
unofficial chevron worth more than official tournament of champions.
stricker 38 owgr pts
tiger 44 owgr pts
hao…understood, Bradley has traditionally been slow out of the gate, since college…he’ll have some nice results but it will be about a month or so before he is in the final group on Sunday…I don’t like to admit that because I like to stir up all the nitwits on this site but give him some time…he’ll make a move.
K.J CHOI
been saying it for months and I haven’t been wrong.
Webb
Hard to get that wrong Raleigh, it’s one syllable.
Yahoo fantasy line up 4 the Sony
GROUP A- S. Sticker, C. Howell I’ll
GROUP B- C. Campbell, S. Marino, C. Kirk, R. Allenby
GROUP C- J. Kelly, Either B.Cauley or H. Slocum
Stayed tuned for Matchups
I go with stricker for this tournament too because he have played in Hawaii better than any other player than on the field and he’s getting better and better.
He would win this tournament and become second player after ernie els to win back to back tournament.
I like Cameron tringale, Tommy gainey or Webb Simpson. Cameron is due for a win gainey is never out of it til late Sunday, and Simpson is as hot as it gets.
ripperduggan: If you are really torn between Slocum and Cauley (rather than Love), remember that first-timers haven’t finished better than 30th at this tourney since forever. Go with experience. This is a course you MUST know to play.
Danny Lee
Stricker and Simpson cant keep that sort of form..its not natural! I’m going to show some imagination and not follow the favourites! John Rollins or George McNeil for me.
Stricker or Howell III
steve stricker
charles howell
k.j choi
A: Stricker, Howell
B: De Jong, Toms, Wilson, Marino
C: Gay, Senden (A GIR machine!)
Stricker back-to-back. Last year was the year of first time and rookie winners. This year the veterans will prevail.
I have to go with Stricker….he played so well last week. My long shot is Stephen Ames.
Chucky Howell, Ryuji, and Kyle Thompson.
Caddied there many times, u have to drive the ball stright and put well.. K.J OR STRICKER
BUT KEEP MY LIL BUDDY KYLE THOMPSON AND HIS FAITHFUL SIDEKICK ,,,AKA J.J IN MIND ,HE COULD PLAY VERY WELL
1. Ryo Ishikawa
2. Webb Simpson
tie 3. Brian Gay, Shigeki Maruyama
Scott Brown is a darkhorse to make some noise this week.
Bud Cauley
Stricker
Keep an eye on young David Hearn, first to tee off on Friday. His game has gone from newbie nervous to silent contender. I expect to see him in top ten in Hawaii
Steve Marino
stricker and simpson should continue their good form here.
dufner might get his chance to finally salute. the course suits.
zach johnson will give us some idea about the quality of the win by tiger at chevron.
you need plenty of birdies to win here so a hot putter is essential. maybe a brian gay or even justin leonard.
Steve Marino is dealing with an injured Meniscus in his knee and is unsure if will be in for this weekend. After knowing first hand about this knee injury this could hamper Marinos season debut. So keep an eye on Marinos condition :-)
A Picks:
K.J. Choi
Charles Howell III
B Picks:
Chris Kirk
Steve Marino
Russel Knox
Troy Matteson
C Picks:
Jason Dufner
William McGirt
scratch that might take Marino off now with this new information
Ill swith out Marino for De Jonge then
Maybe even Danny Lee
The column people follow is BACK! After an all conquering 2011 with 10 tournament winners and a multitude of places (prove I didn’t) we are all set for more of the same for 2012. Get off to a great start with these 3 likely lads
Rory Sabbatini – an enigma who is capable of blowing the field away or failing to make the cut. I think his head is in the right place for this.
Jimmy Walker – for no other reason than I like him.
Shigeki Maruyama – a good tournament record, vastly overpriced at 300/1.
Good luck and best wishes from England.
Strick, back to back…
DOSE ANY1 KNOW IF PGA MATCHUPS IS STARTING THIS WEEK ON F.B. THIS IS THE FIRST full field event of the 2012 season. Let me know :-)
I’m feeling really good about my game and think I will win this week. Good luck to the rest of the field. You’ll need it!
JJ: You know full well that the only reason people follow this column is for my incisive insights. ;)
That being said, I am also pulling Marino from my lineup. Over the last two seasons, Marino has had an astonishing number of last-minute WD’s considering what a good player he is. His “questionable” status for tomorrow makes it a near certainty that he will WD.
I’m leaving him on the bench at this point and Giving Allenby the start. I’ll have to keep an eye out to see what happens with Marino. If there is enough time after he announces the WD, that leaves a toss-up between Jimmy “Dyn-O-Mite” Walker and Mark “Hey, I don’t suck” Wilson. I’ll probably go with Walker.
Welcome back, buddy!
Scott OZ: His miserable putting is what prevents me from picking Senden. I have seen him play in person, and he truly sucks with the flat stick. If he ever gets it figured out, he will be a major (and even Major) force to contend with.
Bacardi Jim,
Obviously you didn’t read my comments. I’m giving you solid advice and you’ve turned your back for the likes of Campbell, Allendy, LoveIII?????? Don’t complain that I didn’t give you fair warning!!!
I know I went with Stricker, but I want to add Zack Johnson to the mix. He plays well here and he knows how to win.
Keegan – Don’t be so full of yourself. We’ll see if you can walk the walk this week. I don’t think this is your week, but good luck.
Keegan, Keegan, Keegan, Its spelled Allenby.. lo
Keegan… do I know you???
I have to say, as a wild card pick, I’m pulling for Lt. Billy Hurley…Served his country and now on the PGA Tour…Great story…
@ Bacardi Jim
Hello right back at ya, my friend! Solid looking fantasy squad you appear to have there, albeit a bit on the “veteran” side. I hope the sun shines for their aged bones ;)
That should read “…as finding the fairways is essential to success.” My mind works faster than my fingers.
Hank: Zack is a great pick. It all depends on which putter he brings. His putting can be ferocious or atrocious. And you never know from week to week which putter he’ll bring. (Speaking metaphorically.) If his flat stick is working, he has at least a 30% chance of winning this week. If not, he’ll end up in about 9th place.
BACARDI JIM how about leaving some players for the rest of the fans to pick.Iam taking jason kokrak before everyone snaps him up.he reminds me of this big raw pet gorrila CLYDE out of the movies, just wish a few of these euros pu$$y’s would take notice of him.
Want to use Choi this week but C. Howell has a great track record here and there is going to more tracks this seasons where Choi will b of better use. We have to remember its a long season. BUT I REALLY THINK CHOI WILL BE IN THE THICK OF THINGS
***ANY1 HEAR ABOUT THE PGA MATCHUPS ON F.B. IF ITS A GO ER WHAT
Sang-Moon Bae in the Waialae !! hang loose…gremmies!!
SEAN SMITH: It’s not a competition; it’s a discussion. Just because I post my Yahoo! fantasy golf game lineup doesn’t disqualify you from choosing the same players. However, note that when I posted my Yahoo! picks last week, they included the four top finishers.
Clyde was an orangutan, not a gorilla.
Ripper: I’m dealing with the same struggle between Choi and Howell that you are. I keep re-thinking it three times a day.
RUSSELL KNOX just wondering what is under the kilt… similar to my fans who worry about me.
hey gail !! happy new year…who do you like this week??
BARCARDI there was only 5 players last week.
Ted Potter Jr.
It’s looks like a long shot doesn’t it ,but I don’t think so.Maybe by Sunday we will both look like geniuses
Broke down and switched C. Howell for Choi. I know that K. J. Is playing good golf and its not clear if Howell is on his game
K.J.Choi just ahead of Steve Stricker and Zach Johnson sleeper and T10 chance to Michael no X Thompson.
Ripper: I just took my own advice (4:30 am here), and pulled the tired-but-happy Stricker to go with Choi/Howell. The deciding factor? I had to sit Stricker out last year for several weeks near the end of the season so as to have him available for the playoffs. This year, I need to ration his starts a little more wisely. With three other strong contenders in the A Group this week, I figure sitting Stricker out only hurts me if he wins, and even then it won’t hurt me too badly if I can pick the 2nd and 3rd place finishers.
