SCOTTSDALE — At least Stewart Cink has a sense of humor.
Shortly after he finished off an 83 Thursday in the first round of the Waste Management Phoenix Open, he took to Twitter to explain the uncharacteristically high score to his fans.
@stewartcink I’m not injured, except for slightly bruised ego.
Cink’s round of 12 over included three double bogeys, seven bogeys and a lone birdie. He only hit four fairways, six greens and had 32 putts.
Thursday’s round was Cink’s 1,385th in 406 starts on the PGA TOUR. His previous high score was a 13-over 83 in the third round of the 1998 British Open.
It’s ok Stewart, we can laugh at you too.
Gotta show some admiration for Cink for not pulling “my back hurts” nonsense like the other clowns do when they shoot in the 80s and withdraw.
harry you wuda shot a 103 so wed laugh at you too
Bravo, Stewart. Compare this to Jeff Overton — 6-over for his second round and in the water on the 18th when his wrist “hurt” and he walked off. Couldn’t hit that last approach and two-putt and sign for a 78.
For that comment to come from a successful
golfer and the 2009 Major winner shows that
he has “lost interest” in the Great Game.
Absolutely stupid comment by Cink whom I
did admire but I dont now. An 83 in a
PGA Tour Event is equivalent to 103 for a
“once a week” golfer. VERY ORDINARY !!!!!
83!! FORMER BRITISH OPEN CHAMPION? WOW!
the whole world is laughing with you sink.
Love the honesty.
