PEBBLE BEACH, Calif. — Tiger Woods has had plenty of success at Pebble Beach having won this tournament and a U.S. Open here before. But he’s never played Monterey Peninsula Country Club, which replaced Poppy Hills in the rotation in 2010. Friday, he shot 68 for the second straight round.
Here’s a breakdown of his round as it unfolded:
VIDEO HIGHLIGHTS FROM TIGER’S ROUND: Birdie on No. 1 | Birdie on No. 6 | Birdie on No. 7
5:55 p.m. ET: Thirty-three putts later, Tiger’s round was over as he carded his second straight 68 — though this one came on the par-70 Monterey Peninsula, which is the easiest of the three courses here. Putting was clearly the issue for Woods, who is 6 under through two rounds and six shots off the lead heading into the weekend.
5:35 p.m. ET: After a bogey on the par-4 16th, and a par on the par-4 17th, Tiger is back to 2 under on the round and 6 under for the week. Putting continues to plague Woods, who is now six shots off Charlie Wi’s pace of 12 under. Wi is in the clubhouse with a second-round 69. (Tiger’s score: 2 under through 16)
5:12 p.m. ET: The good news for Tiger is that he’s tied for ninth — and given the current weather conditions there aren’t going to be many low numbers the rest of the day. The bad news is that he has just one birdie over the last seven holes and has just three to play. The biggest culprit so far: Woods’ putter. He’s taken 27 putts through 15 holes. (Tiger’s score: 3 under through 15)
4:40 p.m. ET: There hasn’t been any movement from Tiger since that birdie on the par-5 12th. Woods has parred each of his last two holes, Nos. 13 and 14 to remain at 3 under for the round and 7 under for the tournament. The conditions are also more difficult now with a heavy mist and colder air now blanketing the property. So far Woods has fared well, but not great. He’s eight of nine on fairways hit and 13 for 14 in greens in regulation, but he’s also taken 25 putts. That’s just four shy of the number of putts he had in the entire first round. (Tiger’s score: 3 under through 14)
4 p.m. ET: Tiger continues to take advantage of the par-5s with another birdie, this time on the par-5 12th, where he hit his approach shot to just two feet after laying up to 86 yards. Woods birdied two of the three par-5s on Monterey Peninsula and will see nothing but par-4s and one par-3 — No. 14 — the rest of the way. (Tiger’s score: 3 under through 12)
3:09 p.m. ET: Tiger Woods just made the turn on the front nine of Monterey Peninsula, where he had three birdies and one bogey to turn in 2-under 32. He had a chance for a third birdie over his last four holes with a good look on the par-3 ninth, but he just missed. The good news for Woods: There are two par-5s in his next three holes. (Tiger’s score: 2 under through nine)
2:34 p.m. ET: Tiger just made his second birdie in a row after sticking his tee shot to 15 feet on the par-3 seventh. He now has three birdies and just one bogey through his first seven holes and is six shots back. (Tiger’s score: 2 under through seven)
2:15 p.m. ET: Tiger had a chance to make a big move after hitting it to just outside 10 feet on his second shot on the par-5 sixth hole. The bad news is that he missed the putt left. The good news is he still made birdie. That gets him back to 1 under on the round and 5 under for the tournament. (Tiger’s score: 1 under through six)
1:44 p.m. ET: Tiger had a good look at a bounce-back birdie on the par-4 fifth hole, where he hit his approach shot to just outside 10 feet. But he ran his putt just by the hole, giving it the deep knee bend as he did. Woods still has just one birdie on the very scoreable Monterey Peninsula. In other words, even par is not a good score. (Tiger’s score: even through five)
1:30 p.m. ET: Tiger just made his first mistake of the day on the par-4 fourth, where he found a fairway bunker off the tee. He then left himself a 10-footer to save par, but slid the putt past the hole and made bogey. That drops Woods back to even par on the day and six shots back. (Tiger’s score: even through four)
1:14 p.m. ET: Three holes down for Woods, who is still 1 under after an opening birdie followed by two pars. There are only three par-5s on the par-70 Monterey Peninsula — Nos. 6, 10 and 12 — so Woods will have to have his irons, particularly his wedges, more dialed in than yesterday if he’s going to take advantage of the easiest course he’ll see all week. (Tiger’s score: 1 under through three)
12:45 p.m. ET: It didn’t take long for Woods to get his first birdie. Just one hole, in fact, with Woods making birdie on the 391-yard par-4 first at Monterey Peninsula. That moves him to 5 under for the tournament, though he’s still five back of Danny Lee, who is now 10 under after a birdie on the par-5 first hole at Spyglass Hill. (Tiger’s score: 1 under through one)
Rory McIlroy is my idol.
Re: Sean Smith
If he keeps playing the way he has been the last few days he will be Tiger’s idol too.
Hao.. you keep asking for some “furture stars.” I’ve taken time to drawn up a short-list of 20, tell me what you think.
1. Rory McIlroy, NIR
2. Martin Kaymer, GER
3. Charl Scwartzel, RSA
4. Jason Day, AUS
5. Dustin Johnson, USA
6. Louis Oosthuizen, RSA
7. Webb Simpson, USA
8. Alvaro Quiros, ESP
9. Rickie Fowler, USA
10.KT Kim, KOR
11.Matteo Mana$$ero, ITA
12.Ryo Ishikawa, JPN
13.Kyle Stanley, USA
14.Tom Lewis, ENG
15.Thorbjorn Olesen, DEN
16.Bud Cauley, USA
17.Noh Seung-yul, KOR
18.Romain Wattel, FRA
19.Patrick Canley, USA
20.Scott Jamieson, SCO ( little bias, had to get a Scotsman in their)
As you can see, all of these players are from different part’s of the World.
If anyone else want’s share their view’s on this subject.. please do so.
Is this going to be like yesterday, where we get hole-by-hole updates on Tiger, plus other random comments? I hope so…
hope they follow him on tv today…useless coverage if tiger isn’t shown
Starts again with a birdie, moving to -5
Im trying to follow live, but when its 25 minutes passed his tee time and no update its hard to follow live?????
You 2 cupcakes should get together for a butt party
If Rory is your idol why do you come to a LIVE Tiger Woods playing Monterey?
Tiger Update – Birdies # 1 and moves to -5
anyone think Tiger will shoot 59 today???
I am predicting a 59
Which site is the best LIVE update..please?
Cracking start for Tiger, where is the live updates?
try golfweek.com nole…they are tracking well
Monterey may be easier, but it’s also a par 70 (compared to the other two par 72s)meaning it’s only fractionally easier in relation to par.
Montery 1.058 under par
Pebble .962 under par
Spyglass .731 under par
@ Sir Shaun:
Surely I should be on that list.
You need to add John Huh to the list of next generation ballers.
as usual pgatour.com is slow in updating…what else is new?
Future stars? Not sure this is an accurate list given that half the names on here are already “stars”. Rory, Kaymer, Louis O. and Schwartzel have all won majors; Jason Day, Dustin Johnson, Simpson and Fowler are all well known. The rest of the list very good.
Looks like Golf.com will have a live blog starting at 10am PST.
Thanks Star, will do app recite it! Thanks!
I predict -7 today
woods hits fairway on # 2. I think he is starting to drive the ball very well. Once he starts driving well he can be unbeatable, because his iron play is still fab.
Sir Shaun,
I like your list. And totally agree with Rory being the cream of the crop. The only thing I would quarrel with is putting Jason Day above Dustin Johnson. It seems clear DJ is more talented, had more potential and has already won many more tournaments than Day.
no Keegan Bradley on your list…hmmm….
Does anyone else realize that Monterey is a par 70 meaning the scoring average is only about 1 stroke different than the other two courses?
Go Tiger, good start. Shut up the bad wishers early. Just a good, slow pace towards brilliance needed today. Thanks in advance.
Too bad the basis for your entire story is incorrect. Monterey Peninsula wasn’t “by far” the easiest course. All three played about one stroke under par. MP is a par 70, which contributes to the dramatic scoring difference. MP was 1.1 strokes under par; Pebble 1.0 and SH .8. Not much of a difference.
anyone think golf channel will drop the ball again on tiger coverage today???
What about Robert Rock???
Are they only airing the pebble course on tv today or can I actually see tiger
rushed home yesterday to find golf channel playing another one of their tricks.
Absolutely Shameless stuff from them
anyone think golf channel will drop the ball again on tiger coverage today???
… They will because cameras are only at Pebble the entire week!
I dont understand how all cameras are at Pebble, yet they show perfectly fine highlights, something doesnt make sense….
Tiger has another birdie opportunity on # 2.
Looked at the par 5 yardage at Monetary and all 3 are relatively short. If Tiger finds fairways on them we could see a couple of eagles
Par
I image the Joe LaCava has seen Monterey course before. Tiger will be fine.
Mack:
I did the same thing. Total BS.
I wonder if Spy and Monetary don’t allow their courses to be shown live…like Augusta was very reserved and showed minimal coverage back in the day…They only allow to show highlights.
Only think that makes sense…why would golf channel do so after showing tigers abu dhabi rounds live from halfway around the world
Go easy on the channel guys…am sure they would show tiger if they could
Folks, I think Tiger’s website is probably doing a decent job of tracking his play, at least as well as any other…
I imagine that…..sorry. Long friday at work. And i don’t golf for a living:(
Tiger has 8 ft for birdie on the par 3 3rd
I would expect tiger to go at least 4 or 5 under par today…..anything less then that will mean he is loosing ground to the leaders.
What happend to shot tracker?
Par, stays on -5
and he misses it
C’mon Wacker! Where are the updates?
shot tracker is only for players on pebble beach
Just to let clear thing’s up. The list I made was a mixture of “future star’s” and star’s of today that will still be star’s in the future.
This list was in no particular order after the Top 4 or 5.
Yes, Danny Lee should be on this list.. replace him with Scott Jamieson :( LOL!
Birdie-Par-Par start for Tiger
How are you guys seeing him play shot by shot?
Brian Wacker is a complete Wack job and definitely shouldn’t be commenting on golf….I guess even Tiger Bum Chums can get jobs blogging.
PB played 0.962 under par, SH played 0.731 under par and MP played 1.058 under par. There is less then a half a stroke difference from the hardest to the easiest course. They all played pretty much the same and there is no truly recognizable difference in how hard each course is playing.
gentlemen i know this is way off topic… but am i was doing some research earlier, and discovered that tiger woods have more wins on the european tour than the top 1,2, and 3 highest ranked players in the world and in europe? and he has more career money than them as well? how can u not respect this guy’s game?
http://golfweek.com/news/2012/feb/10/tiger-tracker-round-2-pebble/
From what I can tell, the best/quickest updating tracker is at golfweek.com
Tiger finds the fairest bunker off the #4 tee.
There actually three par-fives
Wacker says there are two par 5′s here, but I’m pretty sure there are three. 6, 10, and 12
To be cla$$ed as a “future star,” the player must be under the age of 30.
Sorry, but I don’t rate Keegan Bradley.. he might prove me wrong though.
this guy doesn’t even know how many par 5′s are on the course..
Forgetting the fact that the courses are almost identical in scoring av below par, that the first is not a 391 yd par 4 and that there are 3 par 5′s on this course not 2 i’d say that this is a fairly accurate couple of paragraphs.
fairway bunker to the green
yeah 3 par 5′s on this course…there are 4 but they moved up tees and playing that as a par 4 for this week
hey Brian….what is hole 12? A par 5…MP has three par fives and 5 par threes and 10 par 4′s
Sir Shaun, why don`t you go to Rory`s site and do lists there?
Nobody there?
There are three par 5s on MP; 6, 10, & 12.
I think we need to put the whole which course is playing harder issue to bad this year. These are the best course set ups for all 3 Golf Courses we have seen for this Golf Tournament in Years. If the Wind continues to lay down this week, we should see a new scoring record for this Tournament.
Mike Weir hits it to 15 feet from the pin on the first hole at Pebble Beach…..the crowd cheered then bought some canadian bacon sandwiches
golfweek.com has the fastest updates
yeah golfweek is the best….wacker’s a slacker
bogey on 4…back to even for the day…-4 for championship
hopefully this will be the first and last bogey of his round ‘cuz i know tiger will bounce back very soon :)
Weir 3 putts for a bogey and gets Canadian Bacon thrown at him.
Weir is now wearing a toque to prevent getting grease in his eyes.
lol at scott
Weir hasn’t reached the second hole as he got lost and is looking for moss on the trees to determine which direction he is heading.
“How will he fare at Monterey?”
He’ll lose, but the media will have lots of fun covering it anyway.
Cheetah looks to be slow out of the gate?
Um… Cheetahs and Tigers are two completely different species.
Tiger’s changed his name to Cheetah
Phil Mickelson looks lost these days…making no headway at all
makes me wonder if has anymore victories left in the tank?
yeah he’ll definitely scratch out a few more…but can he still win the big ones
Sean/Shaun/whatever other aliases you have.
You seem to be upset that Tiger Woods commands significant media attention. You also have listed, on different threads, numerous other players whom perhaps you think are underated? undertelevised? better than Woods?
To borrow your above list:
Worldwide professional wins – 85
Major Championships – 4
Tiger
Worldwide professional wins – 128
Major Championships – 14
A more accomplished list…the current top 10 WGR
Worldwide professional wins – 117
Major Championships – 3
Tiger
Worldwide professional wins – 128
Major Championships – 14
These numbers speak for themselves. Tiger IS the story. When he plays he should and will be covered just as Jack was, just as Arnie was. I think you should take a step back and appreciate being able to watch history.
Thank you for this @Jones… hopefully this Sean character learns to appreciate just that.
And one last statistic I left out:
Perkins waitresses boned: 28
Do any of us have lives if we actually follow someone play by play on the internet…why do we live our lives through something that isnt even real..its just a screen in front of our faces..we are like 8 year old chrildren with no lives judging other people we dont even know
Weir leaves his birdie putt on two a beaver tail short of the hole…looks like par on the easy par 5
Don’t know who this other ‘Jones’ is but obviously don’t think that statistic belongs in the above post.
Jones.. Yes, Tiger’s records are unbelievable and I admire him a lot for what he has achieved in his career and what he has done for Golf as a whole.. Tiger Woods will indeed go down in history as one of the GREATEST!
Hao(a Tiger fan) has asked people on several occasion’s to name “future star’s” and as far as I’m aware, I’m the only 1 of a few that’s had the bottle to do this. You can’t tell me the player’s I’ve named are not already young star’s or potential star’s of the future.
writer lost all credibility when he stated this course has only 2 par fives.
he obviously was corrected by someone
“Monterey was by far the easiest of the three courses…”
The writer must not realize it’s a par 70, so stroke average for Round 1 was actually similar to PB.
@Tampa Jack, funny comment earlier… sucks that I didn’t read the initial article before it was edited.
Woods has 8 ft for eagle on the par 5 sixth…. he needs it to kick start a charge
Leave the writer alone…he is partially retarded.
Tiger has an 8 footer putt for eagle on the par-5 sixth, any takers that he will sink it in one? I am thinking that he will.
personally i think pebble is playing the easiest of the three
question to Wacker: You suggest that Monterrey is “by far the easier of the three courses” based on the average scores from Thursday MP- 69, PB-71, SH-71. But the MP is a par 70 course whereas PB and SH are par 72s. So essentially, according to this reasoning, they’re all averaging about 1-under par. MP may be an easier course but average score doesn’t tell the story.
Brian, if this is a Tiger follow column you need to be updating his every shot. otherwise what is the point?
i see that others have also posted similar sentiments.
Oooooooo….instead of draining the putt Eldrick 3 whacked! Wow!
No he didn’t, troll.
missing these short puts could be expensive. Its still early though 5 under is ok at the moment long way to go.
Through 6 holes tiger has missed 5, 10 and 12 foot birdie putts as well as an 8 footer for eagle and a 3 putt. For all his belly putter complaints it looks like he needs one.
After the 6th hole debacle, Tiger steps up on 7 and snap hooks his drive into the sea. Never good.
Back-to-back birdies? Does anyone else smell a charge coming from Tiger? ‘Cuz I do!!!
another birdey back to back watch out here he comes!!!
Sucks so much this is not been shown on tv.
Tiger is going for the top
Birdie at 7
Yeah I know but hey, at least he’ll make the cut and so we can watch him in action on Saturday & Sunday :)!
Is this not being shown on Sky Sports 3?
On 8 tiger hit the ball into a gopher hole and had to take an unplayable lie.
XXX I agree that Pebble is the easiest
Kevin and all the other lovers – They are only showing coverage of Pebble Beach. The PGA Tour set it up so Tiger would play pebble on Saturday when they would have the highest viewership. This tournament does this every year….they always show Pebble Beach with the very rare shot at one of the other two courses. If you were all golf fans you would already know this and wouldn’t be complaining that you have to beat off to other golfers today.
It is on at 8 o clock sky sports 3 shaulin
but no tiger on tv cause no cameras (PM)
Any predictions of what tiger will shoot today?
@Scott, I already know this. Thank you though! Back to Tiger’s charge now… WOOOOOO!!!
I predict Tiger will shoot -8 under today :).
I think 64
I predict Tiger will shoot -8 today. :)!
Hope so Kevin. So all the Tiger haters can choke
na he will not shoot minus 8 today doubt he is sharp enuff for that. but tomorrow we might see it i predict 66 today minus 4 again.
@william. I agree, my guts telling me on the back nine it’s going to be a good one… a real, solid, good back nine which Tiger is amazing at.
Tiger will shoot 74 with a snowman
The back nine at MP is the easier of the two nines so he could go really low.
par at 8
so he got par on number 8 thought scott said he had to take penalty there?
Kevin Na has posted 31 on the back at MP which means it’s possible but it seems to be about the best out there right now. Once tiger is through 12 he won’t have many real scoring opportunities left so I’m saying he shoots 64 at best today.
@Return of the king, use this link:
http://golfweek.com/news/2012/feb/10/tiger-tracker-round-2-pebble/
For your shot-by-shot coverage of Tiger… it gets updated really fast.
That will leave him at -10 and at most 3 off the lead which for the way he’s putted is pretty good. Especially since he gets to play Pebble both days this weekend which seems to be surrendering some decent scores so far this week.
Why no shot tracker on 2 of the 3 courses
Regardless of where he stands right now his swing is looking really really nice! Only a matter of time in 2012.
Tiger sets up for a stinger and instead hits a hosel rocket – striking a fan in the head.
@mike I think the coverage (TV coverage as well) is only going to be for Pebble Beach. And not for Spyglass Hill or Monterey Peninsula.
Hey pgatour.com, since obviously no one else is even playing in the GD tournament, why don’t you just go ahead and give Tiger the trophy and forgo the bother?
par on 9th lets see how he does on back 9 they are suppose to be easier.
Return of the king – did you really think he hit his ball into a gopher hole…..that sort of thing would only happen to John Daly.
PADRAIG HARRINGTON!! What’s going on? 5! birdies in-a-row and up to -7. COME ON PADDY!
If PGATOUR.com needs someone to follow tiger around and actually provide fast accurate information I am looking for a job.
GolfWeek blows this away.
stopp trolling Scott i believe everything:)) and thx alot kevin good link you gave me
Sorry, 5 birdies in 6 for Padraig thru 7.. was getting a little carried away, It’s a bit understandable.
Remember when Paddy first really got noticed here in the states? Oh yeah, when he finished T2nd at the 2000 US Open here at Pebble, just sayin.
long time we saw Padraig have a run at it
Return of the King.. I’ve backed both Tiger and Padraig for the win this week and It’s looking good at the moment.
looks like he is messing up that 10th par 5. He isnt as strong on par 5s as he was before he needs to get those going better.
i would bet on Dustin he is super strong in this tourney
Tiger needs to get to 9 under if he is going to contend
TWK.. 3 Majors for Padraig, pretty good don’t you think?
How can Tiger not win? Apparently he is the only pro playing in the tournament according to the coverage here and on TV.
So boring watch this on tv i just turned it off. Its just surreal they just have cameras on PB what are they thinking. who on earth is interested watching Wi or some random donks play. time to take a nap and wake up early for Dubai Rory is playing unreal golf there.
@printman They haven’t shown a single god damn live shot from Tiger on TV. So we have to follow him on live blogs because the Golf Channel is retarded. The pgatour.com doesn’t even have a shot tracker on him. Quit your whining and don’t click on the tiger tracker link if you don’t want to know how he is playing. MORON
Padraig got a lot of hate over at the Golf Channel earlier this week when he made comments about belly putters as well as Tiger’s “winning game”. Personally Paddy was my sleeper pick for this week so i’m not surprised he’s playing well. I mentioned the 2000 US Open to illustrate his past success on this golf course. I’m with you on this one Shaun.
Come Sunday he will be the only PRO holding the trophy!!!!!!!!
Return of the king – For as long as I can remember they’ve only showed coverage from Pebble Beach for this tournament….this should not be a surprise for any golf fan.
i think pgatour.com is getting their tiger updates from golfweek, that’s why it takes so long.
Sunday he will be the only PRO holding the trophy!!!!!!!!
http://web.tigerwoods.com/onTour/eventDetail/?eid=R2012005&cid=26288770#tabscorecard
Tiger has a 20 footer for birdie at 11. Just misses and and pars to stay at -6.
He is running out of holes. He needs an eagle NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Running out of holes?
He has 43 to go!
7 TO GO IN MP
TWK.. The Golf Channel is the worst station around the World to cover Golf.. most of the commentators are awful too..Kelly Tilghman and Sir Nick Faldo are just 2 of a few.. Sky Sports is by far the best.
Even if Tiger finishes, at best, 4 under this round. Come Saturday at Pebble Beach, I think he’s gonna go way low. Just hoping that Tiger has some fire left in him to finish strong this round. @Rich, 43 holes left sound quite nice to me :)
Tiger either has to learn how to putt again or he needs to start hitting it closer to the pin.
Brian Wacker, didn’t you do the report yesterday, too? Why was it so much better and more detailed yesterday? Some of us would love to hear about the inside-the-ropes convos between Tiger, Romo, and the rest of the 4some. Let’s get more updates and more detail on the shots they’re hitting!
They’re about 3 hours into their round and you’ve only posted 7 updates…what’s going on out there? Some of us stuck at work on a Friday would at least like to feel like we’re out at Pebble!!!
HE NEEDS BIRDIES TO CONTEND DUSTIN PLAYS MP TOMORROW TIGER NEEDS BIRDIES
How about some updates on Tiger? Love how this is a Tiger update blog but we only get two sentences every 15 minutes… How about doing some real reporting.
HE HIT SHOT THREE FROM FAIRWAY ON PAR 5
2 FEET FOR BIRDIE
BIRDIE:)
I WILL GIVE UPDATES AS I GET THEM. MUCH FASTER THAN PGA:)
thanks william, you should get a job with PGA, this brian wacker guy needs all the help he can get.
THANKS hweinberger
PGA updates=disgrace
TIGER HAS HIT TEE SHOT
WI DROPS BACK TO 11
Birdie at 12 to go 7 under. Tied for 8th. Only 58% of the tournament remaining. :)
David Duval at plus 2. Like to see him get back to his old self.
lol @william you’re making it a lot more of an enjoyable coverage than the writer of this article… i love it! you should definitely get a job at PGA… keep ‘em coming :)!
Thanks for the Updates william. I am watching the Golf Channel and there is no coverage of tiger happening at all. Bizzare.
TIGER ON FAIRWAY PAR 4 13
Sir Shaun, I agree and I am still at a loss as to why they can’t find decent people. For instance, earlier this week Charlie Rymer suggested that for Tiger to have a successful week he needed to beat Romo who he claimed was “at least a +3″, haha. Unbelievable. Then another one of the commentators said that Woods/Romo would be tough to beat this week. Can anyone tell me the last time a scratch golfer ever won the AT&T? NEVER. Anyone with the faintest amount of golf knowledge knows that in this format it’s always advantageous to have anywhere between an 8-20 handicap as a partner if you want to win the team competition. This stuff just kills me. (btw I am TWK if you haven’t figured that out yet)
For the Dunhill Links at St Andrews, Carnoustie and Kingbarns (which is almost the exact same as this event) the European Tour put all the best players(McIlroy, Kaymer,Westwood etc etc) on the same course and Sky Sports shows them rotate around the three courses over the first 3 days and final day is played at St Andrews.. they do this so their viewers can view other 2 courses not just St Andrews. Why can’t the Golf Channel do the same for the AT&T. It’s a bit strange If you ask me.
TIGER SNIPES ONE INTO THE FOREST. LOOKS ANGRY.
THANKS
WOODS JUST HIT SECOND SHOT FROM FAIRWAY
TIGER SNIPES ONE INTO THE FOREST. LOOKS ANGRY. THAT WAS NOT ME
UPCOMING DOUBLE BOGIE LIKELY
UPCOMING DOUBLE BOGIE LIKELY. TIGER HATERS AGAIN
25 FEET FOR BIRDIE
LEAVES FIRST PUTT 10 FEET SHORT
I AM SWITCHING NAME
thx… this second william guy really is just brian wacker screwing with us.
par on 13
Yeah, figured it out Tim. I see Mr Woods is up to -7 along side Harrington.
Is his ball completely unplayable or just in some really bad situaton?
I know fears for his job
@Rich… if you want actual coverage of Tiger, shot-by-shot, please go here:
http://golfweek.com/news/2012/feb/10/tiger-tracker-round-2-pebble/
At first william was doing some good coverage, but it turns out there are mockers and people trying to hate on Tiger.
Silly trolls, tricks are for kids.
HOLE 14 IS A PAR 3
tiger has left his ball in a gorse bush. looks unplayable
I WILL CONTINUE TO GIVE COVERAGE. JUST LIKE TIGER I WILL NEVER GIVE UP
YOU WILL GET A GORSE BUSH UP YOUR A** IF YOU DONT F*** OFF
20 feet for birdie
TIGERS BALL IS PLUGGED IN THE BUNKER LIP
no its not its on the green
DUSTIN JOHNSON DROPS TO 10
is everyone enjoying our shots of the ocean and it’s animals? We can’t show tiger wood’s because we are a bunch of morons. I hope you continue to enjoy watching us go bankrupt and never get to cover a PGA event again. Sea Lion Update: Another sea lion has been spotted off 18!!
ANY ONE WANT ME TO CONTINUE COVERAGE
Golf Channel does have a problem. 3 courses and only cameras on one. Half the time amateurs are playing so the number of feature type players and leaders on any given course at a time is low. It may go beyond their willingness to cover other courses though. There may be contractual issues.
TIGER – FURIOUS – BURIES HIS PUTTER IN THE GREEN. CHILDREN ARE SEEN WEEPING
THERE SHOULD BE FEATURED HOLES ON THE OTHER COURSES
please continue coverage… we can differentiate you from the other joker.
He just misses the left-to-right putt and settles for a solid par.
OK NO PROBLEM
Or maybe one F*(&ing camera on Tiger Woods! NOPE, sorry. Maybe we should have talked to the PGA tour about having Tiger play Pebble Beach first or second. That would have required too much thinking. We are a TV station and don’t have access to many cameras.
14 IS A PAR 3
TIGER JUST PARED IT
4 PAR 4S TO FINISH
TIGER CAN GET AT LEAST ONE BIRDE
Phil Mickelson (MP) IS 5 UNDER
How about Vijay Singh at -8. Haven’t heard from him in a while.
No. 15, Par 4, 415 yards
NO HE IS STARTING TO PLAY WELL AGAIN.HARRINGTON 7 UNDER
He hits a “stinger” with an iron and hits the right side of the fairway.
135 YARDS TO HOLE
cmon Harrington

HEY DAVE YOU IRISH

Shot 3: in the hole on the 202yd, Par 3, 12th Hole

First off… anyone who thinks that mciory is the best, wake up… you have to win, 80 plus times and have 14 majors to be considered the best.
Simple, until you do, you are not the best..
PLAY IS QUITE SLOW DUE TO AMATEURS
Shot 2: Tiger hit stroke 2 from the fairway
T25 Woods/ Romo (MP) -5 14 -12 65 – – – 65
PRO AM
20 feet uphill for birdie.
Charlie Wi is a 4 time runner up on the PGA tour. David Toms beat him by one in his latest 2nd place finish by holing out for eagle from the fairway.
Wi played for UC Berkeley in College so it’s likely that he spent some time on these courses before.
Charlie Wi (PB)
Shot 2: 200yds to Green, 5ft 10in to hole on the 418yd, Par 4, 8th Hole
TIGER PUTS IT SEVEN FOOT BY.
Tiger misses putt badly and has 7 feet left for par.
SWC.. come back and say that when Rory McIlroy is 36.. then I’ll take more seriously.
Dustin Johnson (SH) DROPS TO 9 UNDER
Tiger hit his 2nd putt (Stroke 4) in the hole for a Par
TIGER MAKES THE 7 FOOTER
(Hole 16)
Shot 1: Tiger hit his Tee shot
I WILL BE BACK IN FIVE
DISASTER STRIKES: TIGER MAKES TRIPLE BOGEY EFFECTIVELY ENDING HIS CHANCES IN THE TOURNAMENT
Wow! Charlie Wi is in a zone.
Tiger has hit 14 of 15 greens in regulation. If he gets hot with the flat stick, look out.
I’ve been thinking about your comment on McIlroy SWC.. It’s got to be up their as being as one of the worst comments I’ve ever read on this website. Unbelievable really.
I’ve been waiting over 3 years for tiger to get hot with the flat stick…..I think its time for a belly putter for tiger.
Rich.. Is Tiger hitting the ball close.
75 yards left on his third shot.
Seems like he has a lot of 20 footers. btw – seems I jinxed Tiger with the comment about greens in regulation. On 16 he has a 75 yard bunker shot for his 3rd on the par 4. Par would be quite a coup.
looks like bogey. needs a good up and down
Tiger hits the green and spins it back, about 18 feet away for par.
18 feet for par.
I’m in your space william. I’ll leave the updates to you.
Hey rick i am happy to have you on board. We are much better than Brian
Charlie Wi w/ a 3 shot lead at -13. If Tiger misses this putt he’ll be 7 back.
There’s his problem.. Tiger used to hit the ball close(within 10 feet) on a regular basis and hole lots of putts, he can’t seem to do either that very often nowadays.
He misses the putt and has about three feet left for bogey. He makes it to minimize the damage.
We must keep faith.Pebble is just around the corner!!!!!!!!!
It’s official.. the Golf Channel is the worst Golf broadcasting station in Golf.
Tiger is just getting his game together after almost 2 years of problems. I’m a fan and thrilled that he is in the hunt.
When he gets to Augusta, he’ll know those greens like the back of his hand. I hope his game is peaking for that.
It’s not such a big deal for me that he wins this week. Would be great, but I’d really love to see him win a major.
Will and ricks broadcasts are the new venture!!!!!
No. 17, Par 4, 430 yards
Sir Shaun – you can thank foley for tiger’s inability to hit it close.
Hey Where’s the coverage of my boy Chuckie Wie?
He’s leading the freekin event and not word ONE?
This type of thing REPELS us!
Don’t give me much credit….I’m just reading the Golfweek.com updates. You can read that as well. Perhaps we add a little color to that as well.
Phil and Tiger are now tied at -6, interesting.
Rick is our presenter. Will is on the course.with stats and figures
Charlie Wi (PB) drops one on the last finishes 12 under
With two holes to play, Tiger chooses driver again and puts it in the middle of the fairway.
If you want Wi updates, you can head to the Monterey Peninsula and buy a $50 ticket to follow him around. His gallery is still probably relatively small so you can see what he’s doing first hand.
Can we follow Charlie Wi’s round since he’s in the lead. Sheesh, overkill on the Woods stuff.
Scott.. most of Foley’s students are under-achievers.. Mahan and Rose are good example’s.
Rich we are providing a more comprehensive service on tiger woods than the pga tour are lol
Nice one Rich
10 feet short of the hole. He’ll have a left-to-right breaker for birdie.Bounce back time
This one is in the makeable range. Pro’s make about 1/3 of their 10 footers.
hope so Rich
Over the years Tiger made more than half
He missed it:(
par
Gets a par
Distance to the pin is critical. It doesn’t matter if Tiger is hitting more tee shots in the fairway if he isn’t stiffing the approaches closer. Tiger is still improving with his new swing and I think we’ll see a Hogan-esque ball striking phase of his career. Hopefully he won’t put like Hogan did at the end of his career after the accident.
Tiger heads to the last.A must birdie
WI will not do as well at spyglass tomorrow
IMO, Hogan was the best ball striker of all time.
Woods can still win this tomorrow is moving day.We are only half way there
Where are you guys following him?
Tiger hits a stinger iron from the tee. No. 18, Par 4, 381 yards
Colin just relax and we will bring you coverage
Pin location: 24 paces from the front and five from the right
Only 3 guys are more than 2 shots ahead of him.
If they don’t play well, then anything can happen. But tomorrow figures to be critical. Tiger doesn’t have a big track record of coming from behind on Sunday.
Tiger has just over 100 yards left
Its been a long day
Should be a wedge in to the final green. Knock it in!
A birdie would be a nice way to finish
Is it just me or does Tiger seem a lot humbler since he’s come back?
Shot 2: Tiger hit stroke 2 from the fairway on 18
I agree Rich.I think he is just grateful that he is returning to form
I imagine Tiger will win the Masters this year…he was close last two years not being in the best of form…He is playing better now, and still has a couple of months to figure the rest of the pieces in his game out.
15 feet left of the hole. For birdie.I bet he makes it
tiger has 15 feet for birdie on the last
Downhill left to right putt is the toughest.
missed it
tough putt…downhill and breaking to the right
o well my mcilroy woods double beat i think, terrible putting by tiger today
I hope he converted for par. Minus 6 isn’t a bad showing through 36 holes.
68 two under and 6 off the lead However Charlie wi has to play spy glass tomorrow. woods plays pebble
Live coverage golf channel 1 o clock ET tomorrow
I think Tiger is going to win more tournaments than just the Masters… it’s the debut of his PGA Tour season and he’s showing some striking resemblance to how he once played back in his greater days. I think Tiger, as the excellent player he is, will be only improving his game, rather than it worsening.
Like Wine, I think Tiger is going to improve his game in the months to come.
Way to go Tiger, show ‘em what you’re really made of!!!
I know he will more….but I am calling that one with sureness
I would like to thank Rich for his contribution to the broadcast. And to all who have followed through the day goodbye and good luck.More tomorrow.
he made par and finished at -6
Well we can all watch him LIVE on TV tomorrow….no more blog coverage needed
He got the par
I was glad to be of service.
This just in: Tiger has missed the cut.
This just in the cut is tomorrow
This just in…william is getting confusing
Who william?
me william
i am william from ireland
So tiger shoots a -2 on what Mr. Wackjob says is the easiest course of the three. Tiger needs to putt better…plain and simple. Tiger doesn’t have the distance control because of his new swing. HE will get close every once in awhile but he won’t be consistent in getting close to the pin. Tiger’s new swing allows him to hit more fairways and hit more greens but he’s lost that distance control. He will finish in the top 10 in most tournaments he plays but he will have a hard time winning if he can’t get the ball close to the pin.
He will contend come sunday last three tournaments
T3 1ST and T3 what is not consistent about that!!!!!!
Top 10s equal world number one spot
There is no way that someone who is T141 in putting should win any tournament.
Rory McIlroy is the best! Who cares about this event? Everybody’s watching Rory demolish the field at Dubai! GO RORY!!!!!!!!!!
T141 in putting and still only 4 off second
william – Top tens will only get Tiger to the number 1 spot if he plays 30-40 events a year. Right now his 17-20 events a year won’t cut it. Too many other golfers getting too many points when tiger is not playing.
He will win now and again. But will contend nearly every time he plays from now on.
Jason Kokrak rules.
We will see come sunday
william – he may be 4 off second but 6 off the lead…which means he lost ground on the leaders…..and he lost ground when he was playing the easiest course. I don’t count him out but……
October 6th, 2011 7:39 pm
@ Jo .. I wish I was an 8/9 handicapper. Putting is the strength of my game. Get me inside 10 feet and seems I make more than I miss. iron play is okay I guess but it’s the driving that lets me down. I don’t hit the ball that far and can be very wayward at times =( I play off about 12 and hoping to get to single figures I believe it’s possible just need to hit the ball straighter =(
October 8th, 2011 10:47 pm
@ Reg … I am a 4 handicapper and just stating my opinion. If you see most of my comments it is a hatred for Tiger Woods as a human being, not for the many great things he’s achieved in the game of golf. I am a golfing fan and have been for a long time and i respect what Tiger achieved on the course. I just don’t like the guy as a person, and never have, even before this thing with him being unfaithful to his wife. Because he always was arrogant, rude, disrespectful, spat on the course, cursed and slammed clubs.
Winner
Mcilroy Rory (-13) 2.50
Bjorn Thomas (-13) 4.00
Kaymer Martin (-11) 6.50
Westwood Lee (-10) 7.50
Cabrera Bello Rafael (-12)
What bad coverage of this tournament, they don’t show any other course apart from Pebble, then to make things worse they spend more time showing the amateur golfers, a mixture of business executives and people we don’t really care about hack the ball around the course. If I wanted to see sh*t golf I could go watch a few hackers at my local course!
McIlroys ball striking was supreme today, swinging the club so perfectly and holing all the 5 to 10 footers.
As Bruce Critchley said ‘I don’t think that I’ve ever seen a more perfect swing for someone of that size and build in all my years.’ To think that Aaron Smith said that he has to change his swing to win more majors, I can’t thing of a much greater travesty to the sport than that.
Dave.. The Authority/Aaron Smith is a weird bloke. McIlroy did play superb Golf today, he could have easily shot a 62 or 63 because he missed a couple of makeable putt’s.. yes, all the expert’s(Sky Sports commentators) say his swing is perfect. I agree 100% with them.
CALLING IT : Tiger Woods easily.
It’s called THESIS !!!!!!!!!!!!
so if tiger finishes in the top 20 does that count as a win among tw lovers and that he is back and should b annointed as god again.
NOT
I forgot you scribes and tw lovers have already annointed him. Now embalm him and lets move on the real golfers
joe real golfers ! WHICH ARE ! ?
Without having watched the scorecard yet, I was thinking that Tiger was close to the lead.
But oh surprise when I looked at the leaderboard, Tiger is T17 “only” 6 shot off the lead. Yes, we all know that big leads don’t last in the PGATOUR, but you would expect a much prominent coverage of Phil being T8.
Anyway, no wonder why some “fans” are so misinformed.
GO RORY GO RORY GO RORY GO RORY GO RORY GO RORY GO RORY GO RORY GO RORY GO RORY GO RORY GO RORY GO RORY GO RORY GO!!!!!
Sean Smith and others.
Rory has the NEAR perfect game.
His ONLY flaw is that he CANT putt.
Again called THESIS !!!!!!!!!!
His putting is much better if you have watched him over the past year.
McIlroy CANT PUTT!? You’re having laugh mate..have you watched any Golf from 2011 US Open until now? I guess not.. or maybe you’re a fake Golf that only watches Tiger Woods. UNBELIEVABLE!
* fake Golf FAN!
Dave.
82nd in putting on the European Tour in
2011 and 130th on the PGA Tour.
As I said, Rory has got the NEAR perfect
game.
Called : THESIS !!!!!
what putting stats are you taking them from anyway? I’m pretty sure I saw somewhere where his stats were higher than that.
another thing is that we’ll see whenever he plays on the pga tour this year and we’ll see the ‘Strokes gained through putting’ stat. Because if it’s putts for green, he’s gonna hit GIR more than most of the golfers on tour so the stats won’t be as flattering as someone who is missing the green then chipping to 3 feet.
Al.. COME ON!! Only a fool would fail to recognize that McIlroy has improved his putting drastically (and his stroke too) since the 2011 US Open.
Al is right with his numbers but the interesting thing is over the last 5 years Rory has improved those stats every year.
You guys chase gail off the thread????
Tiger is having his way with gail
If he is he’ll never recover. He’s showing improvement but it’s a long way back from a bad leg, new swing, balky putter and running with babes that can suck the chrome off a trailer hitch.
His hitch is tied to the game of golf, his kids and family, not in that order. Just have PATIENCE, as he had to do for 27 months, puhhhhhlease.
What a load of crap!
Kenneth, your comments supercede your lack of brain cells, which are replaced by crapola, yourself. Go elsewhere and bloviate.
