  • john murdoch

Martin Kaymer; Dustin Johnson; Keegan Bradley; Justin Rose; Adam Scott – my choices to win the event!

    What odds!!

    Jm

  • andy allan

    ben crane and kj choi

  • Graeme Johnstone

let’s go Bubba, all the way!

  • chas

    its tiger time

  • Skibo

Who is Tiger pitted against ? Never heard of Castano??????????? Is this a setup? If he looses to this guy ,Tiger is finished!

  • derek

My four bracket winners. First is my “wish” and next is my “prediction”:
    Bobby Jones: Stanley – Snedeker
    Gary Player: Woodland – Rory
    Sam Snead: Webb – Haas
    Ben Hogan: Zach – Stricker

  • nivas

Steve Stricker,Brandt Snedeker,Dustin Johnson, Adam Scott, Bill Haas, Graeme McDowell, Keegan Bradley, Martin Kaymer!!!!

Stricker would win the tournament, he’s good in it…

  • ???

castano is a very good player he will beat tiger

  • Re: Skibo

You’ve never heard of Gonzalo Fernandez-Castano? Have you been living under a rock?

  • Big O.

Tiger is really struggling… But he shines at these events.. Look out worls !!!

  • marga krenn

Ernie Els, een geweldige sportman; een geweldige golfer; een geweldig mens.

  • Sir Shaun

Skibo.. you might well known who Gonzalo Fernandez-Castano is after Wednesday’s first round.. Gonzalo is a fine ball-striker and if he has a good day on the green’s Woods will be in deep trouble. Oh.. and Skibo is certainly not a real fan of Golf.

  • Sir Shaun

Watch out for Paul Lawrie this week folks, I reckon he’ll take down Justin Rose and could go very far in the event.

  • Mike

Castano is a great player! @Big O… How was Tiger been struggling?? Last 4 events: 3rd, 1st, T3rd, and T15th. On Sundays yes, but that will come! Tiger is gonna have a bounce back season! Maybe not the 5+ wins we are used to seeing, but for sure a win or two under his belt this year.

  • MARIO

LUKE DONALD VS TIGER WOODS FOR FIRST PLACE MATCH AND RORY MCILROY VS STEVE STRICKER FOR THIRD PLACE MATCH

  • et

skibo, you should watch european golf once in a while. there are some great players out there.

  • nick

Tiger will be done within two rounds. Dustin Johnson needs to worry less about driving distance and work on short game. Look for Luke Donald or Sergio to take it all. Robert Rock as a dark horse….

  • Casey

Sergio is the pick to win it all. He has played very well on this course in years past, his OWGR has gone from 70′s to top 20 in the past year, and did you see the way he played Sunday at Riviera? Started 9 shots back and if it wasn’t for two short putts he missed he would have been in the playoff. Skibo should really try watching the European Tour. Check the OWGR, top heavy with European players.

  • regula

watch out for Rafa ….very good and steady player…

  • @IgnacioGolf

    Mario: 100% with you

  • Eric

Going to be there Wednesday. I have never seen Tiger, Rory or Luke play. I’m so pumped!

  • Bruce

I haven’t heard one word about him, but his game is made for this event and golf course. Kyle Stanley.

  • PhiloPhile

Amazing how Tiger fans really never give up on him. Really admirable. But the same is true for Phil fans.

  • Gina

Too bad we’ll lose a Swede, guaranteed! :/

  • kelprod

Just please do not force us to watch Keegan Bradley again on TV. Between the disgusting spitting and the endless goofy pre-shot routines, it is just painful to watch. Please, no more TV time for Keegan.

  • sab

anybody knw why lefty isnt playin in this tourny? thanks :)

  • kelprod

sab..he has played 4 weeks in a row and said he needs a break to be with the family. Good for Phil! Guy has his priorities properly in place.

  • Brads

    KEEGAN….KEEGAN…KEEGAN!!!!!

  • Robert

    Buh Bye Gonzo!!

  • MOE

Jim Furyk will school Dustin Johnson..

  • Ron and Donna

Shame on you PGA if you continue to allow call-in TV viewers to determine the scoring outcome of these professional golfers and professional caddie, during this or future tournaments. All of these people should be insulted that their honesty and integrity is thrown out the window, on the words of an armchair observer.

  • lucy

I’m on the Europeans. How can you pick Dustin he is lousy on every part of his game.

  • Billy

K.T Kim is the self proclaimed best matchplay player in the world. Good to see him in the field this week. He is one to watch.

  • lucy

He is done two years ago.

  • Making Eagles

Tiger will definitely do well, and i think it is about time for people to give TW a break. Despite all his woes and swing changes, he is still competing at a very higher level. soon all he is working on with click, naysayers beware.

  • regula

@kelprod…don’t you think that it is a little bit strange that konowing the Tour schedule weeks ago, one of the best player in the golf history is skipping such a big and unique tournament?

  • lucy

Mickey never made it to second round anyway.

  • brian

@ kelprod, somebody really has to show Keegan what he looks like on tv and I’m sure somebody will. Spitting is fine in hockey and actually it’s fine in golf but not so much and his constant weird nervous pre-shot routine has to change. I’m sure it will.

  • lucy

Somebody needs to tell this boy Keegan to speed up his game.He is irritating.

  • kelprod

Look, Keegan Bradley is no doubt a nice kid, is talented and seems to have a good future on the Tour (provided the USGA does not ban anchoring putters). But, he needs to clean up his act in regard to spitting and the endless pre-shot routines. I followed him in Scottsdale for a few holes and, quite frankly, I had to leave…I could not take it anymore. Watching him yesterday at Riveria, he even seemed worst. I just hope he works to clean up his act a bit, as he currently is not portraying an image which is good for the game.

  • kelprod

Regula…no, not at all. Phil Mickelson is a family man first and a golfer second. He played in 4 consecutive events, which he enjoys- Torrey, Scottsdale, Pebble & Riviera. It appears those events mean more to him than any of the WGC events….which is fine. He should be applauded for taking time to be with his wife & kids, as his devotion to family is clearly genuine. A nice role model.

  • schaff

Pot-luck folks, anyone of these players can beat anybody else on any given day….depends on who’s got the mojo going…on that day. However, I must admit it is fun to watch !

  • jkarr200

Unless you watch the European tour on Golf Channel, you’re missing out on a lot of great golfers. Gonzo Fndz-Castano is a wonderful player and will show us a great match. I think all these Spanish golfers have a little bit of Seve running through their veins. Sergio is my pick.

  • cheap shot

Pot-luck huh? Is Garrigus playing? NO!!!

  • greg

Ok why isnt Phil in the field? am i the only person who doesnt know in the PGA world?

  • ulises vallejo rodarte

    perdon,no participa phil mickelson ???

  • et

mickelson is a gentleman on and off the course. in spite of his great achievements he remains humble and approachable, he is not arrogant, he does not bad mouth anybody, he has no annoying habits like spitting, irritating pre-shot routine and offensive fist pumps. actually he often has a sheepish smile after he birdies a hole. if he chooses to miss the WGC event it his his choice and his reasons for doing so should be respected.

  • Geoffrey A. Tucker

    Rory all the way!!

  • Brian

European golfers have been to the fore over the past year or so, andI reckon this could be another feather in Rory’s cap! Com’n Rors

  • John

GONZO to cause an upset , por favour

  • Si

Keegan is still young. He has plenty to learn, but fair play to him his all ready won the pga, lots of top tens and rookie of the year? give a few years he will be a real contender week in week out! hes a great golfer, and i love how he was bombing it 20 yards past Phil in northern trust!

  • andrés

¡¡¡SERGIO!!!! ¡¡¡¡SERGIO!!!! ¡¡¡¡SERGIO!!!! THE NUMBER ONE THIS YEAR

  • marecg

does anybody know phils track-record in matchplay? i think he does not do too well in that format …

  • Tony.Marshall

    Mark my words
Nicolas Colsaerts will blow you all away with his long hitting

  • Jack

    Rickie Fowler to win!!!

  • Betty

I will miss Phil this week, but am looking forward to seeing most of the other players. Can anyone tell me why it is that Keegan is allowed to spit all over the course and yet others have been fined for the offense?..And I do mean OFFENSE. Gross. I think Stricker is about due again..;)

  • Michel

I fully agree with Betty. Kevin Bradley is a great promising golf talent, but seeing him continuously spit, even on the greens is simply discusting. He was in the spotlight last week, with the cameras constantly on him and time and time again, millions saw him carry on his filthy habit.

  • Comp Dr

Catch up with the news folks. Keegan has already apologized for his spitting and promised to work on the issue. It is a nervous reaction. As far as the overdone pre-shot routine, I don’t know.

  • Betty

I just imagine that Keegan will hear about his habit soon. No pun intended, and I can think of no nice way of putting it other than: How would you like you pick your balls up out of someone’s spitty mess…UGH!!

  • armourgolf

martin kaymer is just hitting form and i have heard his ball striking is 99.9% pure 25/1 jump in a fast car and get some money on people g mac has a outstanding chance at 40/1 dont forget i told you first j a armour 111

  • DOB

luke isn’t making it past the first round….

  • DOB

And a european will not win this week, especially one of the top 3. the course doesn’t suit their game.. especially rory who will have more than 160 yards left on the par 4s on his second shots… he will not be chasing flags as he is used to…

  • Snowmen United

Course suits up well for big hitters like Stanley, McIlroy, Bradley, etc., but in match play you have to sink putts under pressure and scramble well. A bomber who can scramble or a precision player having a good week with putter are best profiles. Stanley, Bubba, etc shown to be shaky putters, I look for players like Poulter, Toms, Donald, McDowell, etc to be good choices.

  • Giorgano

El ganador será Fernández-Castaño,o bien Sergio García

  • Cmoney

I like Watney this week. I like how he played at the President’s Cup and he is a big hitter who has done pretty well at this event in the past. He hasn’t played great this year yet but at the same time he has not missed a cut in 4 starts.

  • Gianni

    Sergio, Sergio and Sergio…………..or Matteo

  • Robert

    Lets go Serg!

  • RC

I am one of many who want to see a Sneds/Stanley rematch.

Sneds has to pluck the Goose first though. He should be putting better this week on “normal” greens so look out….he could surprise us.

  • jacque matthews

POULTER, POULTER, POULTER, ACCENTURE MATCHPLAY CHAMP 2010 – WORLD MATCH PLAY CHAMP 2011 HEY GUYS WHO ELSE????

  • Dutch

I would love to be playing lousy as Lucy says about Dustin. Back to Back top 5′s on tour is lousy… Love these comments. If he gets his short game going hes going to be tough to beat.

  • lucy

I can’t count on Dustin’s game.He seems to be going backward everytime his on top leaderboard. He is a horrible, horrible putter.

  • Al

    Check the first round winner…..

    1 Graeme McDowell
    2 Zach Johnson
    3 Bill Haas
    4 Justin Rose
    5 Jim Furyk
    6 Francesco Molinari
    7 Charl Schwartzel
    8 Sang-moon Bae
    9 Steve Stricker
    10 Louis Oosthuizen
    11 Webb Simpson
    12 Martin Laird
    13 Adam Scott
    14 Mark Wilson
    15 Jason Day
    16 John Senden
    17 Matt Kuchar
    18 Bubba Watson
    19 Nick Watney
    20 Tiger Woods
    21 Kyle Stanley
    22 Retief Goosen
    23 Miguel Angel Jimenez
    24 Geoff Ogilvy
    25 Martin Kaymer
    26 David Toms
    27 Lee Westwood
    28 Robert Karlsson
    29 Luke Donald
    30 Peter Hanson
    31 Rory McIlroy
    32 Kyung-tae Kim

  • Rookie

Lots of wrong’uns there Al but we all have our own ideas.

Bjorn again will be chasing all Day in the final.

Other than that as someone mentioned you have gotta look to the form putters – Stricker, Bradley, Kucher, Simpson.

  • Brads

Lets hope Bradley spits some more this week… so some of you nitwits will not watch the telecast… therefore you will not be able to comment on the golf action… Thus saving us all the agony of having to read your TEDIOUS post on this forum…!

    LETS GO KEEGS!!!!

  • kelprod

Brads…Kegans behavior is not good for the game and should not be excused.

  • trent

What about Bill Haas? He would be my American pick and either Luke or Charl as the ROW

  • Northeast Beast!

Dont count out the young and very talented Kyle Stanley. A sleeper as far as far as I am concerned. Although, he has never played in this event….. he has the skill set……!!! I’ll be watching KFS savage the course….. my money is on him!!!

  • Fred Lue

I find it so interesting that Phil or any other player plays 4 weeks and takes off the next two and you talk about priorities in order. I “play” 3,000 miles from home and get to see my family on long weekends and occasionally on a saturday and half of sunday. I guess I don’t have my priorities in order. I should quit “playing” and go home to my family.

  • liam

think poulter has a chance loves match play

  • Richard #3 fan

Keegan,Dustin,Kevin, and Tiger are first round winners!!

  • et

some people are not made for tv. keegan bradley is one of them until such time as he can get rid of his spitting habit and irritating pre-shot routine. perhaps tv broadcast can help by not showing him until he starts his backswing. this boy is good (his game, i mean) and he is going to be in the hunt a lot, so something needs to be done so that tv golf audience will not be put off watching.

  • luke

Watney winning the Sam Snead bracket. Anybody agree?

  • lucy

There are gonna be two disgusting players in the field tomorrow.Keegan and PW.

  • john clemmer

Ben Crane 75/1 is my wager Final four of rory, luke, watney and crane but agree it is a crap shot that is why you take 50/1 or greater

  • John

I have been watching golf for many moons now, and I have never seen such a depth of very good players as there are now, unbelievable. If some of you wonder if I know anything about golf, check out my putting video on U-tube. Simply look for “John Putting Demonstration” on U-Tube or Google and I pop up with three segments. I made 154 out of 168 twelve footers in a row, which may be a world record, check it out, and try to read all my comments at the bottom.

  • Anis Zaman

I do not know what Tiger is going to do in the match play. No prediction is working on him. Its only HIM who lives in the sky may know…amen.

  • et

if there is anything certain about match play, it’s that it is totally unpredictable. on any given day any one of the 64 can beat the other. there can be no ‘expert’ opinions. your guess is as good as mine.

  • M.M. Hossain

    Tiger or Donald

  • Charles W Smith

Keegan Bradley needs to sort out his pre shot routine,, takes a friggin age. Plus stop spitting its absolutely disgusting!!!!

Laird or Lawrie to win this week ;-)

  • factor49

I like Snedeker to win. The brackets set up well for him.

  • Nick

Phil actually played 5 weeks in a row starting with Humana. He will be back and charged for the Blue Monster at Doral.

  • Jonathan Epstein

I guess everyone is forgetting the Match Play master Geoff Ogilvy!!!

  • Avid Golfer

[...] Here are the tee times for today’s opening Accenture Match Play round. All are EST. [...]

  • Tim

Kevin Na will make the final four.

  • old guy

Match Play – it’s in the genes. The canny Scotsman, Martin Laird.

  • Jim Gugger

The old saying has always been that GOOD GUYS FINISH LAST. But how about Steve Stricker who is a good guy with a lot of talent. STEVE STRICKER ALL THE WAY!!!!!

  • DT

Rickie Fowler will get thrashed by David Toms. Go David Toms!!!

  • Hamm

There are 64 players in the field. Tiger has to beat 7 players to win this event. He still intimidate these guy’s and they know it. He will win this one and the Master’s.

  • langcaster

what kind of a twit is this skibo nitwit. Bet you dont know any decent players outside the rednecks and hillbillies like bubba watson and that long forgotten serial shagger WOODS.

  • Jorge
