ADT Skills Challenge airs today

Take a break from the holiday festivities today and Sunday and tune in to NBC to watch the 20th annual ADT Skills Challenge. The telecast airs from 4-6 p.m. in each time zone.

The competition features four teams of players from the PGA TOUR, Champions Tour and — for the first time — LPGA Tour. The teams are Nick Faldo/Rocco Mediate, Zach Johnson/Jerry Kelly, Mark O’Meara/Nick Price and Annika Sorenstam/Morgan Pressel.

The two-person teams will compete in six standard skills (long drive, mid-iron, bunker shot, chip shot, trouble shot and short iron). The event will culminate with a unique one-hole Reverse Scramble where the opposing teams select what shot the other twosome must play.

The four teams will be seeded in the Reverse Scramble according to prize money won in those first six skills with No. 1 playing No. 4 and No. 2 playing No. 3. The survivors will then square off for the weighted sum of $200,000.

The competition was the first for Sorenstam, who won 90 times around the world, in three years. It was originally contested in November at The Breakers in Palm Beach, Fla., and featured a prize fund of $800,000.
